Hoping to get some suggestions on what suspension would best fit my needs.

I have a 2016 Tacoma SR5 (4wd) with a Snugtop rebel shell and a full front runner roof rack (cab and shell)

It’s my daily driver and I’m looking for a good road specific upgrade. I don’t really go off road anywhere. I do, however, often have the entire family in the truck and feel it needs a better suspension setup. The family would be two adults (not overweight), two toddlers, and three dogs (100lbs, 30lbs, and 60lbs - approximately).

any helps appreciated, budget is flexible but i’m somewhere in the middle I’d say.

Looks like it's already lifted, what's on there currently? Do you have a desired lift height in mind?

We offer everything from 0 up to 3" of lift with Dobinsons parts.

It’s been “leveled out” and I’m looking for 2” lift max but just want a good stance for the size tires I got on it and whatever will make a smooth ride on the road

OK. A twin tube setup is great for mostly on-road use, and keeps the cost down as well. Here you can build some with 2" of lift, and add the rear shocks as well to get it all matching if you want.
    https://exitoffroad.com/product/dobinsons-0-3-5-pre-assembled-twin-tube-tacoma-coilovers/

    C59-314 coils
    GS59-221 struts

That will get you 2", and come assembled ready to remove the stock units and spacers.

@OldSchlPunk Thanks! It’s a 1975 albeit I don’t know a whole lot about its history. I’m finally getting some engine work done on it. Hopefully I can start driving it everywhere.

@Crikeymike Thanks for the help. What about the other stuff it lists to add on? Do I need that? Also I don’t need better leaf springs for the weight? I feel like I have a lot of weight on it when everyone’s in it.

    Sorry to thread jack...

How is the sub-frame up front where the steering box is mounted? I remember that being a weak spot for rust.

When you read through those options, it will tell you at what lift height they are recommended. Or if your parts are worn out, you can replace them.

If you want to lift the rear as well instead of just replacing the leveling kit, you can do that here:

@OldSchlPunk its actually not to bad on this one. The real issue are the drivers side rockers. That’s my next project is getting the rust all taken care of.

One last thing: @Crikeymike has forgotten more about suspension than you'll ever know!

@Crikeymike question. What do I use as the metric for weight? Like the camper shell weight plus the weight of all passengers and dogs and then get shocks and leaf springs that have that weight on the site (I.e. C59-352 - 2" lift with 110-220 lbs, or 2.5" with stock weight (heavy rate)) so that would be 220 lbs of additional weight on the GVRW or is that something else. I’m just not sure how heavy duty to go.

Weight that is permanently added/bolted to the vehicle. Camper shell, bumpers, winch, etc. Not variable weight like passengers and cargo.
