Good Morning everybody. I had an unfortunate incident with my 05 Tacoma this morning.
I hope it isnt totaled- let me know what you think it might cost to have a body shop repair all this.

    Thank you!

Anything can be fixed with enough time and money. But 'totalled' just means it's not financially worth doing.

Your insurance will make that determination.

The book value is approximately $8K.
With that kinda damage- I imagine it’s getting close to them calling it a total loss. I sure hate it too, this truck got a new frame under the recall, just 3 years ago.

Did the air bags go off? If not, no, they shouldnt total it.

If they did, they are more than likely going to total it.

Lastly, I hope you’re okay and you are very lucky…you faired way better than I did. Mine got totaled big time :(

Thanks- I’m good, I nearly got stopped in time. The airbags didn’t go off-
Probably because I was only going 12-15mph when it hit.

I’ve been accident free for about 15 years now, guess that was a pretty good run.

I just had less work done in same area for over $3,000. New bumper, filler, grill, headlights, paint. No frame damage.

I just sent in pictures and a video to the ins co. They said they’d get back with me and decide if it needs to be inspected in person or not.

As long as the repair doesn’t cost over 75% the actual cash value, they won’t total it.

Well I just got the preliminary estimate- it came to about $4500.

Since that just came in, I’ll probably take it up to one of the local body shops in the morning.

I’m not sure if they’ll want it up there just yet or not, they may want to order parts prior to me dropping it off.

How does that typically work? I mean, I guess they have plenty of parking space up there.

Take that preliminary estimate to your shop of choice. Be aware, it may be totaled once at the shop. I would clean the interior thoroughly before taking it. Remove any aftermarket parts that are easily removed. Once the total loss process starts, things move fast and the insurance will rush you to release the vehicle to them.

The next step is the shop is going to take the truck apart, mostly just removing the damaged parts. Then they will write a more accurate and thorough estimate. Then provide that to the insurance company.

Your frame front rails could be bent, seeing as your front bumper reinforcement is bent into a V shape now. Sorry to see your truck like that.

If it does get totaled, fight hard for "Market Value" for the payout. Don't accept their first low ball offer.

Right- it’s going to require a new radiator and condenser.
There’s a long list of parts that total about $2200, about half of the estimate.

Most of them are aftermarket parts and some are labeled as ‘quality recycled’ .

That’s just what I found but you’re correct- the insurance company said it was worth about $10,500.

    Thank you.

Isure hope it isn’t. In TN I think the damage has be more than 75% of the ACV, which they placed at $10,500.

Those pictures show the worst part of it, and it’s hard to tell, but I’ll know for sure when I drop it off at the body shop.

Good catch- nownthat you mentioned it, I’m not exactly sure of the date it was replaced, can’t find the message from my buddy who sold it to me. It was replaced at some point, fairly recently- it still looks like new underneath.
