I'm debating running 285s on my 95 2.7l. My biggest question is, How much are they going to cut into my already limited power supply? (I guess I'm worried about power consumption because I bought the truck with 35/12.5/r15s, and I recently switched them out for 265/70/r16s and was surprised at the power difference.) If I buy 285s, I'd go as light as possible which should help. Has anyone who drives a 4 cyl. in hilly country regretted switching to 285s or 33s?

Helllll no. I can’t stand the 3.4 with anything bigger than 32” I’ve only driven a few 4 bangers with big tires and they had a regear.

Did all the first gen 4 cyl.s have the same gear ratio? Mine runs about 2100 rpm at 55 mph: seems a little high to me.(was hoping 285s would lower the rpms a little) Also the speedo is about 10% high. Does this sound like its been regeared or would that make a bigger difference?

Does anyone know if this is normal rpms and speedo accuracy for a 2.7?
