Bumping this for the new year. If it doesn't find a new home in the next few weeks it'll probably stay in my care.

No longer for sale. Hasn't been for a bit but forgot to update this thread. Just want to close the loop.

A year later, the Lexus is possibly for sale. I'll probably regret it but I'm ready for a change. Current mileage is 39,550. Clean title, no accidents, never smoked in. Has some off-road rash. Have offers to list it on auction sites with a $40k reserve but can discuss friends/family pricing for TW members if anyone is interested.

not sure what you will regret more... the loss of your beloved gx, or the aggravation of that chevy reliability :bananadead::anonymous:

for the record I will say this, one reliable locker is better than two unreliable lockers

also, the rear bench of that chevy must be similar in terms of lack thereof baby seat space with a tacoma no???

Soooooo just keep the GX. That way I continue to get sucked into your threads once a year.

+1, I vote you keep your current GX
if anything, maybe change it for another toyota 4x4, but really only in the event you get the 40k+ sale price

With all the cool exciting different flavors of press cars that you have experienced, the only sensible thing to own with your own personal $$ is a toyota!!!

just thinking out loud here, I know you have mentioned getting back into a fun budget miata, with $40k in hand you could get into a decent gx470 + miata duo!!

Keeping it would be easy, though I'd want to change a few things... especially ahead of the AOAA trip this fall

To be honest, I'm considering a Gladiator as well. I vowed to never buy a Jeep but the roof comes off, they have stock front/rear lockers, and they can fit 35"s with almost no work. Super appealing package and I always look back fondly upon riding in my dad's Jeep with the roof off when I was a kit. Would like to give my kids a similar experience if possible and a Gladiator (or Wrangler) might be the way to make that happen.

100% the top and doors off jeep experience is pretty awesome for the kids, I do like that idea even if only for the kids!!

A gladiator on AOAA blacks aint nearly as cool as a gx on AOAA blacks....

If you do decide to keep it my first gx470 bumper should be staring in June sometime, kind of depends on my friends schedule.

Haha I mean that's the case anywhere it's on a trail, isn't it? Or maybe I'm tooting my own horn for wheeling a Lexus

Gladiators will always be cool to me, I'm just a fan of them esp in Rubicon/diesel configuration. No roof, SFA, lockers, a winner in my book (minus the reliability concerns).

The story is buried in his old build thread.

Basically the engine blew up. Jeep wouldn’t cover it. Think it was due to after market turbo or something. Been a while.

Keep the GX and buy an old TJ or LJ. I had a TJ for years. Super fun and reliable as long as you don't beat it up too much off road.
