Just wanted to make a quick introduction. I’m Tyler. I’ve been reading and learning tips and tricks from this forum for years now. I live in SW Washington state within walking distance of the Columbia River. I own a 2016 access cab SR 4x4 5 speed MT that I purchased new in 2015. Funny thing is, I had never driven anything that was a manual at that time. I think I killed/stalled it about a dozen times before I ever got it out of the lot lol. Got it home without grinding a gear though. Currently has just under 68K. Anyway, glad to be here!

Rad Truck! The 3rd gen access cab with the 2.7 5-speed is a cool configuration. I actually wanted that configuration but couldn't find one close enough (and I was in a rush) when I was buying my 3rd gen. Consider yourself lucky! Kinda rare and very reliable engine and tranny.

Congrats and welcome. that is a great pic! Good job not grinding any gears. You will get the hang of starting out in 1st. Try to just get a good feel for the catch point. I recommend using muscle memory by having the truck running and in first, then very slowly let up on the clutch, as soon as you hear the rpms dip, push it back in. Do that a few times while paying attention to where it is catching. Then you can start doing that and adding a little gas pedal and you will start to get it from there.

Let us know if we can help with an mods/accessories. We offer just about everything like bed covers, suspension, lighting, exhaust, bumpers, and much more!

Maybe he has put several clutches in since then lol. Oops missed the part that he has owned it since 2015. I originally read it as he got it recently with that many miles. Well if he didnt get that hang of it, that advice should help...we also sell clutches if not lol

Welcome! Simplicity at it's finest. Nice location. Just don't get married and have kids so you have to sell that beauty.

I couldn’t ever imagine selling it. I have too many memories, good and not so good with it. No wife or kids so I’m good there!

Welcome aboard! :proposetoast: Always nice to hear from an owner with a manual hooked up to the venerable 2.7L. Only 132,000 more to go and reach/sail over that magic 200k number! Just a short stretch of the legs for that combo.
