You have to get a resistor for that. Mine is a 08 so it doesn’t have seat airbags

Not sure about mounting but I put 3rd gen OEM seat covers on my 2nd gen cushions so they're at least the same size for the most part.

How did you secure the wires?

@Brandonstacoma did you happen to add the heated mirror function using the 3rd gen OEM button on the climate control unit?

I added 3rd gen mirrors and have everything wired including a 3rd gen A/C amplifier for only the heated mirror controls shown on the 3rd gen heated mirror wiring diagram but seem to be missing a piece for function. I'm suspecting another connection on the A/C amplifier is needed that I may not have the ability to do without additional 3rd gen parts...

I'm reading ~12v throughout the wiring except for the connection to pin 3 of the mirror heater relay (expected since relay isn't triggered) and signals E or D (can't remember which without being directly next to it right now but I'd think this is expected since it's a button) coming from the mirror heater switch/indicator. Both are at ~0v. So my relay isn't switching when I press the button but I do know the button is functional because E or D shows voltage going to ~12v.

I read on another thread that the mirror heater relay "is negatively actuated. The tie into the A/C amplifier is a signal to ground" (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2017-tacoma-heated-mirror-relay-location.782526/ post #11).

Planning to see what adding the other power connections to the amplifier does and reassessing my relay wiring - but I may just end up soldering an aftermarket button "guts" to the 3rd gen OEM button

Awesome write up, thanks for sharing all of this. I’ve been curious about swapping 3rd gen seats into my 2015, cause I like the black color but also it would be sweet to have power seats. I know you mentioned you just used a resistor for the airbags inside the seats. But what about for the weight sensors underneath the passenger seat that activates the main passenger side airbag? Do all 3rd gen seats (both non powered and powered) have these same 4 sensors with the same harness in the 2nd gen?

Happen to be installing a set with a power seat out of a 23, only issue is the drivers seat position sensor is different. Not sure if it is electrically compatible, but I need to get it figured out. Other than that and the seatbelts everything is a direct replacement.

You’re doing this in a 2007? I ended up installing 2021 seats (powered driver) in my 2015. I just used the old driver seat position sensor on the new seat. I’m assuming how it works is if there’s magnetic contact, the airbag deploys a little more force ands if there’s not (because seat is slid forward and the sensors off the track) then it will be less forceful on deploy. I just mounted it somewhere underneath that didn’t have magnetic contact since I usually sit further up. You can just set your seat to driving position and see if it’s on or off the track. My seatbelt connection harnesses were different, and also my airbag harnesses were different (though the same wiring). Crazy how everything was the same for you. The one thing that was plug and play for me was the passenger weight sensors which was great. I’m assuming you were able to get the heated seats working am I right?

Just confirmed the splice worked just fine after verifying what the power wire was. Haven’t hooked up the heat or power to the seat yet.

My 07 doesn’t have airbags, so no issues there.

Had to swap the seat belt buckles, passenger was plug and play, driver required the splice (yellow to yellow and orange to orange) for the seat position switch.

Other than those items, it’s just been plug and play. Also, my heated seats are aftermarket.

Ah that makes sense since you don’t have airbags to worry about. You’re also lucky your heat elements are aftermarket. The OEM ones from 2020+ Tacomas won’t work in our 2nd gen without a 2020+ hvac module controller. They’re controlled via the HVAC module via a single high speed LAN connection unfortunately, not just a simple switch like in older Toyotas.

Looks really good. I know you spent some time on it. I think the older gauge cluster looks sweet. I say this because I was born in the 70s and digital gauge clusters have always been problematic. I am definitely going to reach out to Black Cat. I am not a fan of the gauge cluster font. Think the Gen 1s had a decent style to them. Great post.
