PT cruiser??

Congrats to Amanda!

 

It runs, the A/C works, the heat works, and it has a clean title. We can spruce it up a bit, sell it for double what we are paying, and buy a nicer car; I am not a fan of Chrysler either (unless it's a HEMI or a Cummins), but I crunched the numbers. Buying this car and adding it to my insurance for six months is cheaper than six months of renting cars (with my 50% employee discount) or taking an Uber!

 

Good news for Amanda. And for $800? You can't beat that.
I will say, My very short live time as a "mechanic" working in a shop was in 2005 and 2006.
I worked on 2 PT cruisers. And I will never own or work on one again. But for $800, buy it, drive it, sell it or junk it.
Can't complain on that price.

And as far as Chrysler, I would not recommend any HEMI or Cummins unless it's Pre-2004. With the exception of the 2005 an 2006 Cummins.
Anything after that.....Nope. You'd be better off buying a Ford 6.2 or 6.7.

 

My uncle has a 2006 Cummins with about 200K miles, and it’s spent its whole life in Texas and California, so it’s rust-free!

A/C works, heat works, cruise control works, has a decent stereo, plus it has a clean title and it has never been wrecked!

 

Keep her full of oil and coolant and keep the revs down and it should last....

 

Just for work, Amanda would be driving less than 2,300 miles a year. The Tacoma will be used for long distance trips…

 

The A/C works great and the factory stereo is surprisingly decent, but it’s still getting replaced…

 

I slightly overestimated the mileage; it’s actually got less than 95,000!

 

You should spray the bumpers Black, would look much better.

 

Amanda’s landlady actually just did them silver. The grille was originally purple like the rest of the car, and I have no idea why she chose to paint that too…

 

Cost of renting a car or taking an Uber a few days a week for an entire year amounts to almost $5,000!

Cost of buying the PT Cruiser, insuring it for six months, registering it for a year, and paying all of the fees associated with transferring the title comes to less than $1,400!

I’d say it’s a deal!
