Silly question but can these be dimple died? I am kinda wanting a set for the rally stuff I do with the truck but am not wanting to add weight unnecessarily. I also run a larger sway bar, plan on running the TRD pro uca from the iron man 4x4 one I currently have and run advan rgd2 -10 offset 17in on stock sized tires with a bbk. To give an idea for fitment. I believe I will not have clearance issues but am not sure.

The gusset fully boxes everything. In order to have a couple dimpled cutouts, you’d have to drill another hole in the backside to be able to wash out any dirt and such that accumulate inside. Water/moisture will probably start to corrode the inside as well as the spindle itself. Might be more of a hassle than beneficial.

I took a camping/wheeling trip up close by Nevada in Markleeville a few weeks ago and ended up bending a spindle. I had one hard hit on the trail and I had a feeling but was still surprised it bent so easily. I didn’t think I was going that hard, but obviously it was enough.

Did some research when I got home and came across this thread and decided to go this route. Messaged Ryan on here with some questions and he gave me his number. Called him and he happened to have a couple sets welded and ready to go, luckily for me. He had answers to all my questions and I ultimately decided not to do the double shear kit since he had these ready to go already and it seemed excessive for my needs.

He shipped them out quickly and they arrived packaged nicely. They were wrapped in plastic and buried in this recycled cardboard.

Here's some comparison shots I took before I did the install. These things are beefy!

    side shot.jpg

    inside shot.jpg

I had never changed one out before but figured it couldn't be too hard. I watched this youtube video and it walks you through step by step with torque specs.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93xEkLJ1ShA&t=944s

Install was relatively painless and I didn't have to deal with anything rusted too bad since I live in CA. The rotors were stuck on pretty good but with a little heating from torch and some love from a soft hammer they freed up.

Unfortunately I got to the point above on the first side and discovered that the holes for the caliper bolts were too big on the new spindles. Called Ryan at 7 at night and he answered right away. Once I told him he said he may have accidently sent me a set from a 4runner which uses slightly larger bolts for the brake caliper. He was very apologetic and sorry for the mix up. So I pulled them off and put the bent one back on. Ryan shipped out another set first thing next morning with a tracking number and they arrived the next day.

Of course luck would have it I got sick and didn't feel up to putting the new ones on for a week. I finally put the Tacoma ones on and shipped the cores and the 4runner ones back to Ryan.

A few more pics along the way.

Don't forget the seals on the back. You may need to order new ones, I was able to reuse mine.

Overall great experience dealing with Ryan. He took care of me when I was desperate and needed some fast. Then again with the super fast shipping and responsiveness with the mix up. They're painted nicely, welds look good to my amateur eyes, and if I somehow bend these things I think my truck would have a lot more problems going on too. I would recommend these to anyone doing even mild wheeling, the risk of bending the factory ones is high. Save yourself from a headache and being stuck in a crappy situation.

The only question I have is how are people reattaching the bracket pictured below that holds the brake line? With the thickness of the gussets there's no way it'll fit back on there. I could bend it and make it fit, just thought I'd ask here for any input.

Little head's up for 3rd gen Tacoma folks on stock wheels and sway bar that the RC Fab spindles does not allow you to keep oem wheel offset and will not allow you to keep the sway bar. You need at minimum an offset of +5 ish and there's no way the swaybar can be kept at all.

Avoid the headache I went through and either go another router altogether or be forced to run different wheels or wheel spacers to gain clearance for the inside of the wheel to not touch the knuckle.

You'll also be forced to lose the swaybar altogether because the clearances are so tight that the swaybar end links interfere with the knuckle to the point of actually losing turning radius at full steering lock.

Hopefully this will save someone hundreds of $$ in labor cost and many many hours of their precious time.

    1000004935.jpg unnamed (1).jpg20250425_144511.jpg

If anyone here has successfully run SR5 or TRD Sport wheels (+24 offset) and were able to keep the swaybar with RC Fab knuckles, please let me know because I do not believe it.
