What do you do with all your tomato plants?

 

One of 3 plants...

 

Brought a shipping crate home from work and made my wife a greenhouse. It's not finished but operational, wife is happy.

Awesome to see, the wind has been so strong here that it ripped about 80 percent of the flowers off .

I think frost got my cherry bushes. As they had lots flowers but only couple took to set fruit.

 

As others have stated, they are daffodils. You can also look online for bulbs. The amount of varieties can be overwhelming and the colors vary between yellow, white, and some pinkish coloring amongst the yellow and white. Online sources from reputable providers can give you good bang for your buck so you can plant them in mass for the best effect. Daffodils are pretty much worry free once planted, assuming they are planted in a good location to begin with. Tulips and other bulbs on the other hand.....

I am surprised to hear that you have problems with squirrels eating your daffodils. I have not had that experience and I thought that daffodils were bitter tasting and not preferred by wild animals. Tulips on the other hand were a favorite of voles when I planted them. Plus whereas daffodils seem to only multiply, tulips seem to dwindle in size and number unless you dig them up and fertilize them when you replant them.

 

We planted over a hundred daffodil and hundred crocus bulbs along the edge of our property. 3 years later we are down to 20 plants combined.

 

Yikes! I liked your post not for the loss of plants but for the response. I wonder if something else is going on with the soil or planting site that is causing them to disappear. As I age my memory becomes more suspect so I did a quick Google search and here is what came up:

Tulips might smell like dessert to a squirrel or deer, but one bulb that no yard critter likes is the daffodil. These long-lived European natives are poisonous when eaten, a trait that keeps rodents from digging them and rabbits and deer from snacking on their buds. You won't need fencing or repellents to grow these.

Little green worms already on my goose/josta/black currant berry plants. I pick the little buggers off and spray with BT. They will eat every leaf off given a chance.

Any ideas short of nasty pesticides, nukes and flame throwers?

 

1/2 Tsp of dawn dish soap in a quart spray bottle. Spray on them

 

Will try !

 

They basically drown in soapy water

 

BT is so slow or maybe these brasturds are immune- will put soap in BT Sprayer

 

We find empty holes where bulbs used to be. Something is digging them up.
I've trapped 5 armadillos on the property in the last 9 months. We have possums and racoons, along with the squirrels, so something is snacking on my plants.

 

Neem oil. And/Or sprinkle diatomateous earth on the plants. Wear a dust respirator when you do that.

 

Wife said Neem as well. Plenty of tools now!!
