Ok, I loosened the frame end shackle bolts only....enough to where I could twist the lock nut with my fingers. I then got on the rear bumper and in the bed and bounced the truck up and down with as much force as I could. Then re-torqued to 89 ft-lbs. Still measures 25" in the rear, but on my quick test drive around town I thought it felt a little smoother. Could be my imagination....need to test further when I have time to take it on some light trails.

Maybe I should have shaken the truck side to side as well?

The 1/2" lower on the driver side should be result of measuring with a full tank of gas.

Just to clarify. When you say “base model” you are not referring to OR/Sport models. Correct?

So in other words, a 1” lift is equivalent to the stock OR “lift”?

The SR and SR5 are base models.

Off road models come with a 1" lift up front.

Right, but when a company like OME, Dobinson, Icon claim that their suspension adds 1” lift, for example, is that being based off of the SR/SR5 models or OR models?

In other words, if I add a leaf pack that claims it’ll add “a 1” lift” to my OR will it retain the same height (since it’s already 1” more than base models)?

Leaf springs don't have anything to do with the FRONT suspension. What I just clarified is that the fronts come with 1" of lift in the off road and pro models. The rear heights are all the same.

You'll have to ask each brand what they based their lift heights on, as it seems many people don't realize there's a difference in the models.

And also, access cabs sit 1" taller than a dual cab up front.

So, theoretically, an access cab off-road should have 2 inches of lift up front compared to double cab SR/SR5 models? Maybe that's why they look so bad ass.

I think just the TRD Pro is the one with the 1" OEM lift... I'm looking at exterior dimensions in the Tacoma brochure, every trim (inc. OR) is shown to be 70.6" overall height (to roof), whereas the Pro is 71.6".
No height difference for Access Cabs.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the OR's are not lifted …same springs as everything else not named Pro. And for the record: the 22+ Pros have a 1-1/2 inch front lift. Pre 22 Pros are 1 inch.

Edit: 22 and 23 Trail Editions also come with a 1-1/2 inch lift

Sorry to revive this thread again, but I am about to take a leaf out of my 111 pack. Doing as much homework as I can before I waste time doing it. I am somehow getting 3" of rear lift out of the pack on my DCLB. Even Crikeymike thought this was a decent amount over what I should be getting.

I already loosened the frame end shackle bolts and shook the truck while on the ground.....no difference in height. Any other ideas what might be causing the excess lift? Had these on for almost a year, so they should definitely be fully settled.

I am using mostly Dobinsons bushings but still using the stock frame end shackle bushing. I have new shackles ready for install when I remove the leaf and will then be using 100% Dobinsons bushings.....not that I think this matters at all.....just stating the facts.

I was hoping to get the 2" of lift as advertised for this pack. I do carry some weight (firewood, furniture, etc) every now and then but mostly I am driving around unloaded. The ride is a bit stiff for my liking and 3" of rear lift just seems excessive and not needed on these trucks. I also don't necessarily want to drive around with a bunch of sandbags in the bed all the time to help the ride quality.

Any thoughts or other ideas before I take the leaf out is much appreciated.

Bushings shouldn't make a difference. Confirm, you're removing the 3rd leaf down?

Thought about upgrading to Hammer Hangers? There are some in the for sale section.

Never heard of em until I just looked it up. Seems like it could help a little. I also was reading that too much rear lift with standard legnth shocks can cause them to bottom out before full bump or limit down travel too much? Mabye also contributing to the harsher ride. I think the simplest solution would be to just take the leaf out and drop the lift to around 1-1.5" instead of 3". The rake is pretty big....doesn't look bad but you can definitely tell! haha

There are a bunch of companies that make them (BAMF, RAGO, Archive, DRT, Dirt King), and they make a big difference! Seeing all the mods that you have installed, and the fact that you're reconfiguring the leafs, why not install hangers too? lol Note, may not work with the gresable shackles.

Of course, different length shocks may bottom out, and bump stop spacers, or alternate shocks may be required That's why they recommend cycling the suspension to get extended and compressed measurements, and compare them with the shocks. Some combinations of springs and shocks are known to work well together.

I agree, take the leaf out!

haha whats another $500-1000 into the truck? why not.

Yea those hangers say they increase down travel by 2"? May run into issues with my IMS rear shocks then?

I will have to look into them more. Sounds intriguing though.
