I like they direction this company is going with a strong focus on cost. But 2wd and 1000lbs towing isnt going to work for me. My hope is they add options for 4wd and 4000 towing for under around $25k. Rolypoly windows and using your phone and not paying for 14 inch infotainment screen. Outstanding.

Electric trucks make no sense until they make a break through on battery storage. Again I’m basing my opinion on using the truck as a truck not a grocery getter. I have nothing against electric vehicles just believe it’s a pointless endeavor until battery tech takes a big jump, then we will really see what an electric vehicle can be otherwise hybrid is the way to go.

I guess my dream spec would be the batteries to be at least half the size/weight they are now while storing at least twice as much power. If they could do that we would probably see most people switch to electric.

I saw this thing in a different post, and while I like the concept of a bare bones budget vehicle, I wish this was something the ICE/hybrid market was doing in the US. It’s a thing overseas isn’t it? Japan I think?
400 mile range minimum for me. I make a 380 mile road trip (Alaska problems) to see family once a year. I’m not stopping in the middle of what is already a 7 hr trip with an ICE, to charge my electric truck for who knows how long. Doubt 200 miles would even get me to a place I could charge. The cold is also pretty rough on EVs I believe

We really need to redo the way batteries are handled- they should be automatically returnable and replaced with a freshly charged one at an automated electric ‘gas’ station of sorts. You drive up, and drive through while your battery is replaced from the bottom or back of your car with a new one. This would make recharging a snap and people won’t have to wait around for them.

    Everybody wants more-affordable vehicles.
    NOBODY wants those performance specs.

No range. Poor charging performance. Low payload. Terrible.

I actually liked this when I read about them on Yahoo. Remind me of early Bronco and Bronco II with roof on it. Cruising range kills it for me. Basically would convert me over to electric otherwise. I hate cars unless they are base models anyway. I never needed all that stuff they put on these things which only drives the price up. To me its transportation from point A to point B. This truck would meet my requirements otherwise. I think it would be perfect for older people or people who live in city's and don't need a large truck to haul a few things around.
The Maverick was a great idea until they realized it was killing the Ranger and started jacking up the prices.

These are done very well. I read somewhere that they're designed from the ground up to be something like 95%, serviceable and repairable by the owner in their driveway. But for the same price I could get a new Land cruiser so that kind of kills it for me.

even if it cost you $15 to fill up vs $50 in gas? I love Toyotas but my cheapness overrides that. I just need it to have 4wd with lockers, pull 4000lbs for 300 miles on a single charge and no more than 15 minute fast charge empty to full.

The cost of electricity is increasing and the supply is decreasing, at least in this state. I can't see an electric vehicle ever making sense if this trend continues.

And we will all soon be competing with the Google, Apple, Amazon, etc. "data centers" that will suck up electricity like a sponge in water. Locally, there is consideration being given to reopen the Three Mile Island nuclear plant near Harrisburg, PA to supply electricity for a proposed data center. That should tell you something about the electricity required.

EV's are another topic altogether, tons of debates about that. I like the idea that someone has put forth a small, cheap, no frills vehicle! I'm past that stage in life, it's not for me anymore but there was a time I would be all over this!
    Crank up windows!

Within five years, northern VA datacenters will be consuming 15 gigawatts of juice.

Our residential rates are expected to triple over that period.

The interior render on that trucklet is a joke. You would smash your hand on the dash operating the window crank.
