1 - 5' requires you to run with the tailgate down.
2 - storage is limited...checkout sherptek.com or nextjump outfitters for options or checkout Nelsonators setup
3 - personal need/preference. The locker is a requirement for some heading off road (bagged shouldn't be a consideration)
4 - same...not a dog but won't be winning any races either...not sure about the brand new setup though.
5 - 30 mins should be attainable even with taking the struts off/on once you get the hang of it (going up - front up first, coming down - back down first).

Excellent, thanks so much for the confirmation. Sounds like "4" is the winner. I agree that using "D" and possibly overdrive would be a bad idea with the Kimbo loaded. Thanks!!

Curious... Has anyone left the factory cleats attached to the side rails of their truck bed and then put their Kimbo in?? Wonder if there is enough room on the sides to allow the cleats to stay?? Not a big deal to remove them but nice to keep them on if possible. Thanks!!

I've left my factory bed cleats in every time and never had an issue with clearance.

    Excellent, that is great news!!
I suspected that they would be ok clearance wise but wasn't sure.
    Thanks for the update!!

just picked up our camper this week. I’ll be doing most of the internal build myself (battery, diesel furnace and stovetop, sink, countertop, fridge). Love the way it feels on our 2024 Tacoma! Drives real easy.

I have a 5' bed as well. Be mindful you can't drop the spare tire with the tailgate down. Or at least, i dont know of a way.

Hi there Voltron, got another question for you now that I have my Toyo AT3 tires mounted on the truck...

What tire pressure PSI are you running with the Kimbo loaded on the truck?? Also, what tire pressure PSI are you running when the Kimbo is not loaded on the truck??

    Thanks a bunch!!

    This and that...

Hey, just got back from Moab with the camper. Got a Little Rock crawling in too. With the substantial temperature change, I had to adjust once in Utah, let an little out. With the camper loaded I have about 50psi in the front and 55-57 in the rear. I'll adjust a little from there depending on the weather. Without the camper I keep them at just under 40psi in the summer due to the heat getting them up to 40psi. The tread has been wearing very evenly since I got them back in 2020 I think. I would recommend doing a chalk test with your load out though to fine tune your rig. Hope that helps!

    This and that...
Also, just had to get the hood and roof wrapped. Mine fell victim to a failing clear coat as some do. Love the wrap though. Went satin black.

Thanks so much Voltron for your thoughts and suggestions.
    I really appreciate it!!

I haven't had a chance to do a chalk test yet but certainly plan on doing so.

The other night I set the tires to 36.5 PSI.
That pretty much matches the tire pressure conversion websites recommendation of 37 PSI.
I figured I would be running them somewhere between 35-37 PSI when unladen.
During the warm sunny day the PSI increased to just about 40 PSI.
So that all seems good but the chalk test will say for sure.
I want to figure out a good PSI for my long drive cross country next week to pickup my Kimbo.

Once the Kimbo is ready to be loaded on the truck I will adjust the PSI to match your estimates of front 50, rear 55-57.
I will then do another chalk test to see how things look.

Getting very excited with my camper pickup date quickly approaching!!

    Thanks again for your help!!

    Hi all,

This weekend I ran a quote through Progressive Insurance to cover my Kimbo.
I have my vehicle insurance with Progressive so I figured I would stick with them for the camper insurance as well.
Overall the quote process was pretty easy and the quote seemed reasonable (about $300 per year).

I got a little confused on one coverage item though... Roof Protection Plus.
Of all the different coverages, that one was the most expensive one by far.

When I read what the Comprehensive coverage covered, it seems to cover roofs as well... things like weather damage, acts of nature, fire, glass breakage etc.
So with that in mind, I was confused as to why I would then need to purchase additional Roof Protection Plus coverage.
Roof Protection Plus covers repair or replacement of a damaged roof, including damage caused by wear and tear, and also covers damage to other parts of the camper caused by the damaged roof (IE... leak damage).
So now I am back wondering if I should get the Roof Protection Plus coverage.

Curious what others have done when it came to insuring your Kimbo??
If separate additional roof coverage was an option, did you select it or pass on it??

    Thanks!!
