OEM sets are also 10x as much as the cheaper ebay ones, mine work just fine.

From what I remember reading - some of the higher end aftermarket headlights are fine, but the cheaper OEM-like ones are junk. (I can say that's true for the tail lights, from experience). I never looked into what they changed with the TSB, because I wend with LED switch backs (white running, yellow blinker).
Side note - with some extra money you can change your front end to 2.5gen (swap hood, headlights, grill and bumper) since some of them need to to be replaced anyways. If you take your time sourcing used color matched parts, it can be done pretty economically.

    Edit - actual how to.

i always thought this taco would look supercool with some fog lights down in the bumper cover holes that currently just have blanks

how much and involvement would that addition be
    is it worth it?

gen 2.5 refers to 2012-2015. The front end is different. Can be with or without hood scoop

    Thank you
Without reviewing all those pages during downtime the most important question would be if these tacos are pre wired to add those lights easily
So is it a plug and play to existing wiring harness?
or will extensive wiring to the interior switch be necessary

Looking at the pics & BS parts list, the left fender is ok? I can see what appears to be some minor alignment issues but may be nothing
Like front grill to hood & fender to hood?
Looks like some scuffage in the fender paint up front, repainting?

It looks like the fender pushed in with the bumper cover which broke the headlamp housing :notsure: the repair facility probably wants to bend it back and repaint it

The conventional bulb for the parking, turn-signal and DRL's in the 2.5 gen lamp units is: 4157NAK (wedge base). I read somewhere that the "K" stands for "Krypton" which is supposed to help make them run cooler, to extend the life of the lamp. They were in there when I bought the truck: assuming they were the OEM bulbs. I replaced both at the same time about three years ago. The DRL's are on all of the time during the day and they are still working fine. No inner lens deformity so far, but don't really expect any a 2.5 gen headlamp unit. They (bulbs) were a little harder to find than the usual 4157NA.

I am remembering the RH front turn signal went out couple years ago
Picked up a new bulb from the dealership using parts diagram I had.
I wonder if that bulb was the new and improved under the TSB

I suspect the inner lens was improved. I remember the bulbs were a p-i-a to r&r. Very difficult to remove (I thought the sockets might be melted) and then kind of a two-step process to push in with a "click" when fully in place. They will hyper-flash if not fully seated.

You do realize that they're using all aftermarket (not OEM) parts according to that quote, right? For many people - and all insurance companies - that's good enough. No matter what your insurance company tells you, aftermarket parts - even CAPA Certified parts - are inferior to what came on your truck. How do I know this? I deliver OEM parts for a large dealer group in New York State. I deal with collision shop parts managers all day long and all they do is complain about the quality of aftermarket parts. But the insurance companies really push them because they cost less. Why do they cost less? Because they're inferior.
