    Hey everyone!

Just bought a CPO 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport about a month ago to replace my old '07. So far I've loved everything about the new truck! It's been fun to drive, hauls really well and I can't wait to take it up camping!

However, I did a hand wash and wax yesterday in anticipation of the hot upcoming AZ summer. This is the first time I've been really up close and personal with the truck and I noticed what looks like flaking clear coat on the hood and roof. Honestly it's on almost all horizontal surfaces. Has anyone seen this? I thought it might be water spots at first but spent a lot of time scrubbing at them, shammying, etc. and they're still there. They feel like the paint is lower there too.

Have my truck going to the dealer for service tomorrow and will have them take a look, maybe they can file a warranty claim? Really disappointed to see this already. Honestly looks worse than my '07 did after almost 20 years.

Looks like water spots to me...
Ide say try some wax / polish of some sort in just a tiny small area to see what happens...
But if truly lower in those spots, may be just a waste of time.

    CPO, was it a rental?
Maybe it was already a buy back, request print out of all history, not just dealer history, maybe that will give you some insight.....

Underground color has had some serious issues too, micro scratches, amongst other issues.
Some guys had toyota pay for paint correction, not saying thats what you have here...

Ive posted plenty of information in various threads about toyota buybacks, not sure how that process is any different you buying used, but my guess shouldn't matter...

My ocd self could never handle a non metallic paint. Paint swirls will be seems mile of way with that color. I’d go grab some meguires scratch x polish paste and see if it can be removed if it is infact water etching.

Well looks like everyone's suspicions were correct! I rewashed the whole thing (with softer water) and used a specialized water spot remover and the spots came up. I'm guessing I have very hard water at my house (which I didn't realize) and it caused a little ring of debris that made the interior bit feel like a pit.

    I'm extremely relieved. ‍

Hopefully my next posts will be about doing something fun with my Taco! Appreciate everyone's sane advice!
