4th Gen Black Tacomas

Surely several of you own a black sport, off-road or SR5. Please post pics here so we can finally get a black owners thread linked in to the master index of colors.

 

The day I picked it up

 

I think black and bronze oxide Sport models are the best looking rigs of the current generation. I'm in discussions with my local dealer on a black Sport Hybrid that is in transit. Its listed at $4500 off sticker and I'm seeing if I can do a little better.

 

The best color if you have the time and knowledge to maintain it.

Black SR5, the night I got it

 

Wish it still shined like that, I don't know about the rest of you but my black paint is soft as hell. My advice to anyone getting a new black Taco, ceramic coat it right from the dealership.

 

Snag it asap before they add more tariff cost on Top of it.

 

Or ceramic coat it yourself. If you know how to wax a car. You know how to ceramic coat it.

 

Also the hardest color to maintain. Swirls anyone?

 

None of my vehicles have swirls in the paint, but detailing is a hobby.

Gtechnic CSL topped with Gtechniq Exo V5 will help a lot.

This only applies to people that know what they are doing. Vast majority don’t. 90% just take it to the car wash drive thru and wonder why it has scratches and swirls.

 

Also most people have no idea about the 2 bucket method either!

Yup. I’ve watched his YouTube vids from the very beginning about 9 years ago. I’m not that obsessed though. I just wash, clay, and ceramic coat seal the paint and call it a day.

What I’ve done so far:

• Tinted the front windows to match the back
• Screenprotech
• SXTH element trail pipe
• Greenlane rock sliders
• OEM tonneau cover

Next mods will more than likely be tires, wheels and some sort of lift. I’m going to wait until the stock tires need replaced before doing that though. Having a tough time deciding between methods or nomad wheels. I want to go bronze or gunmetal gray but I need to see more pics of black 4th gen’s with wheels. I don’t have many good pics so my apologies. Bonus pic of cleaning my truck because black is a fucking pain to keep clean….
