Caught a 180 pound human today (I was the human).
Wasnt even fishing either, Yesterday my son had a fishing field trip, so I gave the teacher a 5 gallon bucket of brand new lures to hand out to the kids. Well, my son decided to dump all the lures into his backpack instead of the bucket to bring the remaining ones home... guess a crankbait came out of the package in his backpack so when I stuck my hand in to pull them all out I got hooked.
I tried to push the hook through on my own, but the skin there was just too tough to puncture with only one good hand. Had to visit the doc because no one else wanted to push the hook through for me and the only person who would do it was out playing pickle ball.
Doc was confused when I told him I cant feel pain very much due to spinal damage, so no need to be numbed up... he started pulling on the lure and wiggling the hook around inside my finger asking if I can feel it.

Few shots of whiskey and the braid trick. Had to do it a few times over the years now. Not fun but beats a trip to the hospital.

Also had to just rip one out with pliers as a 26" walleye was attached to the other hook at the time. I have a special dislike of treble hooks and crank baits after that day

So stupid question. But if a venomous snake bites your fish, can you still eat the fish?

I think venom requires entering the bloodstream to hurt you and it gets broken down by stomach acid, but if you have a cut in your mouth or something YMMV.

I had the same question but ate this one and had no ill effects. I think it was just a water snake and not a cotton mouth though.

That's my understanding, but I wouldn't eat anything that had been bitten by a snake.

Honestly unless it's venomous I'll share somthing with a snake long before ill share anything with a cat/dog.
As stated above typically you need that venom to enter thr blood stream to cause actual damage but the risk is still high. Anything non venomous there's such a small risk of anything outside of the same bacteria you could have living in the fish already.
