    Hi all,

I have an 01 double cab. Recently, I noticed the carpet soaking up water in the lower rear corner of the rear door frames. The door seals seem to be a culprit for similar issues owners have reported in the past. There is no moisture in the front half of the cab so I'm determined to replace the rear door seals first before investigating further.

Unfortunately, OEM seals are priced well over $100 each and I'm even having trouble finding OEM rear seals for the double cabs. Has anyone used an aftermarket kit?

The Fairchild brand is what I've seen pop up on a few sites such as Rockauto (https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/toyota,2001,tacoma,3.4l+v6,1375343,body+&+lamp+assembly,door+seal+/+weatherstrip,1430).

Any input or reviews would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I've used the Fairchild weatherstripping from RockAuto. Solid quality and mimics the factory weatherstripping, same notches etc. Going on a year without issue.

Nice, good to know. Thanks Greg. Pretty close to putting in an order for the full 4-door kit.

Hey everyone. Bumping this up because I'm still leaking water. I think the culprits are the drip rail seal at the top of the door. Not sure the official name or part number so if anyone has that, it would be helpful.

Front, or rear? There was an issue with the front rain tray on the firewall leaking. I had that on both sides and it rusted out the floor slightly.

@Rhodes it leaks on the front drivers side. I'll have to check out the rain tray. Does the drain clog, what am I looking for? Thanks for the response!

What I did to fix was take off the plastic trim piece where the wipers are. And from there there’s a shelf where I ran a bead of silicon along the top. Water runs down in between that and the firewall. There’s a bit more to it, but if you search on here you’ll find what I’m talking about. No issues for me since I did that.

I believe and yeah, absolutely verify on your own using VIN#, OEM part number(s) for an 02-04 Double Cab are as follows:

*Links are to Toyota Parts Deal but availability should be confirmed before dumping into cart and ordering. Some sites will list a part number and it will not say discontinued or out of stock. Verify before ordering/checking out.*

    DRIVER SIDE FRONT:
62312-04030 Weatherstrip, Front Door Opening Trim, LH
62382-04030 Weatherstrip, Roof Side Rail, LH

    DRIVER SIDE REAR:
62332-04010 Weatherstrip, Rear Door Opening Trim, LH
62383-04010 Weatherstrip, Roof Side Rail, Rear

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    PASSENGER SIDE FRONT:
62311-04020 Weatherstrip, Front Door Opening Trim, RH
62381-04030 Weatherstrip, Roof Side Rail, RH

    PASSENGER SIDE REAR:
62331-04010 Weatherstrip, Rear Door Opening Trim, RH
62383-04010 Weatherstrip, Roof Side Rail, Rear

    **NOTES**
As far as part diagrams show, the REAR DOOR shares the same RAIL stripping for both LH and RH sides.

Going to say this again, VERIFY with your VIN before blindly clicking and ordering. I may have made a mistake but I believe these are correct.

For those curious, all part numbers were found via partsouq and drilling down to the relevant section using VIN#. Takes some time but you can locate whatever part# you are looking for using their site.

    weatherstrip, door seal

You still having good luck with this Greg? @Yota X I saw you mention you had issues with an aftermarket brand? Once I fix my firewall I want to see if some water I have splashing in the cab is coming past the door seals.

Yeah these have been great. Followed the same oem design, left and right door specific, and had the right style "seal". Doors now pop open and take two times to shut. Highly recommend.

TL,DR: use Permatex weatherstrip adhesive or no??

So I ordered a replacement for my rear DS Door seal since mine was super worn and while parked through a rainy winter not being used, it ended up pooling rain and some mold grew on my floor carpet
Never had this issue before living in drier climates and usually always driving my truck often

I got the replacement door seal from rockauto. Unfortunately the DS front from other generic brands is out of stock everywhere Ive looked and Toyota doesn't manufacture them anymore.. Will probably pay the high ebay price in a while but right now it isn't the first priority.

I watched some videos of removal and install, but no one seems to use Permatex weatherstrip adhesive...many forums i read (which I cant find now) recommend using Permatex, but maybe that's for cars where the door seal doesn't snap in like this?

pros & cons to using or not using? The door seal seems to snap right in and not need it. Anyone have experience with this ?
