Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
May be way off basis, but Im guessing she was kinda hot. Seen this behavior before with some police.

The fact they werent going to cite her after she admitted fault and had no insurance is insane. If this series of events is even remotely true Id be contacting local news, cop watch facebook pages, and certainly the PD itself.

Why would the cops spend any time on a report, or an investigation that their supervisor isn't going to support? Then they'd have to send said report to a DA who's just going to file it in the circular file. You can't hardly get a decent investigation into assault in CA and you think they are going to spend time on a hit and run? With no injuries?!

edit: Sorry you're dealing with this, but that's the world you live in.

Well they certainly have to file a report, especially since I insisted they cite her. As I indicated, I just spent 12 bucks for a copy, so there better be a report!
As I also indicated (and in line with the clip from The Big Lebowski) in our first encounter, my parting words were, "I'll bet you'll get some of your best guys right on it"! (Tongue and cheek of course.). So, I'm quite familiar with the "world in which I live"!
Turned out the "best guy" was me! Unfortunately, I was the only one who gave a s*** as well!
After I tracked down the car, and located her the least they could have done was asked for an explanation as to how it happened. I stood back, didn't interfere, and let them proceed with their investigation. Turns out there wasn't one! Silly me!
    The report should be interesting!

See, but that's what I'm on about. Nobody in their chain of command GAF, so why should they? For a fender-bender that should be covered by insurance? Insurance laws, more bullshit that their chain of command doesn't GAF about, because, where is it going to get them/you? You can't get blood out of a turnip.

We all wish that law enforcement would actually enforce the laws. There is no incentive, because nobody's feet ever get held to the fire. (Cops or Perps)

At the risk of taking this Fender Bender thread totally off track (like my Tacoma's bumper, tailgate and bed), I'll see your dystopian comment, and raise you!
My point has been that the LE system (or lack thereof!) aside, I propose that the lack of intellectual curiosity they displayed, is indicative of the caliber of many LEO's we're getting now. In my area, they are desperate for recruits. When I was young, LE jobs were in high demand, and CHP and Sheriffs Departments (these were S.O. deputies) were considered somewhat elite. Now, they are desperate for candidates. The first reason is probably due to the break down of the system that you describe. Most bright people simply aren't going to be willing work in that environment, and can do other things. The second reason is the general dumbing down of America. I'm no Rocket Scientist, but I was a Rhode Scholar candidate, compared to what most high schools are turning out now, and critical thinking is dead! So....I agree. I think were screwed.
Anyway, on that bright note...back to my poor Taco! Looking forward to the report, and I expect my $12 worth!

True, but if she ever falls into money or something and you have a judgment or lien (depending on state laws) it's something.

Tough. Maybe she shouldn't have done it in the first place..

If not arrest her. Kids or not. Too bad. And agreed I'd be putting it all on blast.

I never saw her, but as I said, she had several kids in tow.:bananadance:
Every word is absolutely true(I sincerely wish it wasn't), but your comment reminded me that they had body cams on. It would be interesting to see their discussion with her! Probably not likely to happen, but it would be interesting.

Hmm, I think you can file a public records request for the footage

It's sad when LEOs only do their job an enforce laws that have a monetary value to either them, or the municipality they work for.

    Example:
    Exact same scenario only reversed.

Hit is uninsured, hitter well insured.

    Who is getting the shaft?

Why would they do anything. It is the state you live in. In CA, much like a previous poster said about Michigan, even if the cops cited her, nothing would be done about it when the citation was turned in, so what is the point. There are consequences to voting

Im no fan of Ca. and was also mid west raised. Unfortunately I'm stuck here for now. As far as the crack of consequencess of voting, most of Ca. Isn't the picture it's painted. Some even Very conservative areas. Is the system hacked and broken? Absolutely. Unfortunately the direction my home state of Ohio is going. Be careful slinging mud.
