I think we can all agree the A340 Trans is pretty sluggish. I haven’t seen any forums about this but can you swap a better auto trans that bolts up (or has adaptor option). Give me ideas because I want auto because it’s built for off-road but the A340 just isn’t cutting it.

It's not the auto that's sluggish, it's the engine. Add a turbo (properly) and that thing will rippp. Definitely do a shift kit before any boost.

I've had a few different boost variations on the A340f and loved them all. Only thing is I didn't do the shift kit and started slipping clutches after a couple years. Also slipped the clutch with turbo and 5 speed so those aren't invincible either.

I have to disagree. The Torque converter robs so much and the 4 speed aspect is dog ass

Just boost it as is (SC or turbo) and tune everything properly (trans included).

Trust me, 6 psi with long travel and you will be having alot of fun. 10psi woo weee. Definitely run bypass and bump stops.

I'd agree. If you're willing to do a custom trans swap, give added power a shot first, and if you still don't like it, go manual. If you don't like that, time to get a different truck

That said, I'm still following for options

Look up TransGo reprogramming kit. Modifies the pressures in your trans and takes the slop out of shifts.
