    Hello Everyone,

I was wondering what your thoughts or opinions are on a 2017 AC I was thinking about buying. It concerns me about the amount of rust. It lived its first year in Alaska and the on the coast since then. They are asking pretty much $30k for it but has "lower" miles. Is it worth making a low offer or should I pass on this one? I am on the north coast of California for reference. The rest of the truck looks well kept and has stellar service hisotry. I haven't see it in person since I like 5 1/2 hours drive from it. Thanks for your thoughts! IMG_20250501_110221.jpg IMG_20250501_110224.jpg IMG_20250501_110225.jpg IMG_20250501_110227.jpg

I would pass and look for a cleaner truck. Maybe one that has been fluid filmed at least once in its lifetime. :notsure:

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
For rust I don’t mind it. It’s the 30k. Figure 10k to “fix it”. I’d go 18k or buy a bus pass and a slice of pizza.

It would be nice to have all the details like actual miles, but that said it would be a hard pass for me seeing that rust. It's not like the Tacoma is a rare truck.

It has 70k miles, and its a 6MT and 4WD Sport AC. I loved it till I saw the rust on the hitch, and now the better pictures of the underside I think I am gonna pass on this one.

What a shame, think of what the market would pay, would they have spent a few bucks to have it sprayed once a year,,, hell every other year.
OP made up their mind, good call,, especially since you are not in a rust prone area. If I lived somewhere that loves to ruin pavement and vehicles, I would think a little differentially.

Good decision not to buy! Not only does it have rust its way over priced.

For future reference, look for a 2018+ as they have improved frame rust protection from the factory - cavity wax in the boxed section and fay sealant in the C-channel section. Adaptive cruise and lane departure alert are also good to have on long drives to the trail.

2020+ for apple car play. Also the LED headlight option is way better to buy than upgrade if you care.

^Yes and power seats and more sound deadening, but there was a bigger price bump in 2020+ due to covid pricing.
