Trying to get this back on the road again. So far changed all the fluids and fired up. Needed to replace the front brake master cylinder, acquired to replace old original brake lines with SS lines, clean brake fluid diverter and reinstall, and have already rebuilt 1 brake caliper and rebuilding the second one. Should have it all done this weekend.:fingerscrossed:

Forced to change my weekend plans. Have off work the rest of this week and was supposed to head to Marietta, OH for a FJR forum gathering leaving out tomorrow morning. Weather forecast for Marietta has gone to shit so rather than riding that far to spend Friday and Saturday sitting at the hotel waiting for the 90% chance of rain to let up we cancelled our reservations. Actually quite a few members from that forum are cancelling theirs as well. On the bright side my new tires for the Honda should be delivered so I might be able to get those swapped. Our development is holding a neighborhood yard sale so now we can participate in that and try to unload some of our junk and not but too much of a neighbor's junk. Thursday should still be a good riding day so trying to figure out how many GLMC and/or Team Strange bonus locations I can nab.

Haha. Its not that bad actually. Had to turn it down to 190 amps continous though to not trip the bms. Got it up to 66 mph for my testing. I dont have enough street or want to test it faster. Now i may gear it down some to get a little more grunt since im not able to run as many amps.

This happened today. I now have 4950 miles on the truck in 1yr 7 months. Nice being retired and not having to drive everyday.

Man, when it rains it pours huh.

Got broken up with on Thursday so that's been fun. Can't really ride because of my license suspension. BMW was giving me starting issues this week, figured out the drop sensor got dislodged. Remounted it, and it was fine but gave me a running issue this morning. Started fine, then engine cut out as I was coming to my first stop, struggled to start back up. Has happened a few times before, always when the engine is cold. Never an issue when warm.

I'm guessing it's the valves, which it'll be due for in 1k miles. along with a new rear, and an oil change coming up soon. Now I'm debating if I should try to private sell it or trade it in for a different bike instead of spending the money on maintenance.

What do you guys think is a fair price to list it for/to expect if selling it private party? It's a 2014 Premium S1000RR with just under 71k miles now. Aside from the recent starting issue, it's been very sound and the only work it's needed besides regular maintenance has been the stator/rectifier replacement around 45k miles.

The alternative would be to get the valves done, hope that solves it, and ride it into the ground. One Ducati dealer offered $4200 for it as a trade in, the rest of the dealers i've spoken to offer between $2500-3500.

71k miles? Ahahah. It's not worth anything, no one in their right mind would buy that. Maybe for a parts bike, couple grand. Better to keep it and fix it

Lol that's kind of what I'm thinking. I'm heavily contemplating the Ducati offer, especially since it's gonna need work soon. $4200 doesn't seem so bad, as I doubt I would get that private sale in it's current state, or enough to recoup the cost of doing the maintenance beforehand.

I can't think of a better way to get over a breakup than by getting a new bike, in the early spring no less. Fall in love all over again.
Looking forward to the pics of your new Ducati.

It's a sign, I was just reading an article on this ugly fucker that I just can't look away from:

I vote you trade it in for this R1300RS. Imagine how much more comfortable you'd have been on this bike vs the RR over the last 71K miles.

Or fix it is probably more economical, but definitely less fun. Is the engine throwing any codes? Do you have a GS911 or motoscan app setup?

It tends to be a trend in my life that I make huge changes like this after moments of heartbreak. That's how I ended up with the BMW haha

I actually saw the ad for those on instagram a couple days ago and was very intrigued. they look awesome.

Fixing it would definitely be more economical. I don't have a GS911, unless they're hidden codes the only one I've seen pop up was the one telling me about the drop sensor.

To my knowledge valves cause hard starting when warm.

Sorry about the breakup though. New bike would be comforting. $4500 for a trade in doesnt sound bad either for the mileage

As an accountant, it is my fiduciary duty to inform you that the new 1300 would be sick as hell!

You guys see Kawi has a new hybrid bike? Basically a ninja 500 with an extra 25hp on tap via electric motor. No clutch, automatic or push button manual. She's a heavy thing at 500lbs, but I'll be interested in seeing how this technology develops. They've hit the top end of what 1000-1100cc engines can do reliably.

Reviews say it's surprisingly quick, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, which is way better than a lot of bigger bikes

To be honest it doesn’t do a thing for me. Just more shit to break IMO.

The Ninja 7? That came out a while ago, unless theres another one they released?

Per Zach's review, seems pretty underwhelming, but still good that they're looking at that sort of technology.

i believe there is a naked version now

it's beyond my knowledge tbh, no guarantee doing the valve service would fix the issue.

Thanks, yeah new bikes always ease the pain lol. I actually listed it on Facebook Marketplace and have already gotten a couple people supposedly willing to pay more for it, but we all know how that goes 90% of the time. we'll see how it plays out.

When Kawi released their hybrid and the electric motorcycle I was very unimpressed. There are better options for an electric motorcycle than Kawi is offering.

Electric yes. I rode one of the Ego bikes years ago, I'm sure they've only gotten better. I don't want an electric streetbike tho, dirt yes, but a hybrid, maybe front wheel electric power?
