I just did an oil change on my 22 Tacoma Trd off-road V6 at 28,000 miles and there was quite a bit of Finegold dust at the bottom of the oil drain pan. Oil has been changed roughly every 6000 miles with mobile one extended performance with factory Toyota oil filter I do Autoglass for the dealers and most technicians I’ve shown and said that’s not good. My lease is up in one month and I planned on buying the truck now I’m not sure. Here’s a video the drain pan was clean prior. I know it’s hard to tell but if you pause, you can definitely see the glitter and there’s quite a bit https://youtube.com/shorts/Z52Sf8O3ui0?si=QtHzIUkLD3Y2ZSHo

Send a sample off for analysis. Should give you some better information to decide if you're going to keep the truck or not.

Another small update after driving 400 miles since I changed the oil and found the metallic dust in the waist of oil. I decided to get another filter drop the housing and see if I saw anything inside the filter. I did not see anything inside the filter however I did find more gold flakes in the cup or so of oil that came out of the oil filter housing and it is non-magnetic. I have already sent a sample to speed diagnostics, and I am awaiting the report

Approximately 300 miles since oil changed and already this amount of metal in the oil filter housing. I have a couple buddies that are technicians at Toyota dealerships and they both seem to think that it was some sort of oil starvation that caused this. I’m not sure how as I’ve always been diligent on oil level even when the dealership changes the oil I checked the level immediately. Funny thing is service department doesn’t know that I have affiliation with the dealer and service advisor. Says this is normal
