    Afternoon all:

Good day today, got a meal of asparagus from my wild asparagus plant, then my fishing buddy called and we will be out walleye fishing for the opener tonight, hopefully they will be cooperating, been hit or miss at the lake for quite a while. :hungry:
Now I just need to get all the shad gear out of the truck and load it up with the Walleye gear.
I didn't mention that I lost my hat with my senior lifetime license on it to the river due to a wind gust, got the lic. replaced for $6.95, it's amazing how fast a hat will sink in riffles, not a chance of retrieving it. I need to put a chin strap or a small float on it, my shad fishing buddy also lost his hat in the same area awhile back with his license on it and a bunch of pins from the shad contest, time to figure out a solution!

Power outage last night. Looks like it was restored around 3am... don't know for sure. I'll check clocks today sometime. They're probably ok. Glad we bit the bullet and installed an automatic generator. Slept right through it. Perfect! A realter friend said an automatic generator added 10k minimum to the value... IDK. Right after we installed it, about a year ago, same friend said 8k. Sometimes, we get the elevator instead of the shaft. The added peace of mind is priceless.

Good morning. It is colder in Michigan than home. I did bring warmer clothes with me for this trip.

No walleyes and not looking good :annoyed:, Jim caught one rock bass, and I managed a white perch and a 29" striper, those stripers can really put up a battle!

I saw those hat clips Doug, I did come up with a comfortable solution, I think!
Kind of like an adjustable chin strap that I attached to the adjustment band of the hat.

Good morning. Wet/ drizzle day, so far! Tried reducing my sleeping meds by 50% as I had been sleeping easily... but was awake from ~4 am to 5:30. Annoying, but did fall back asleep to 6:30. I do hate being dependent on a drug just to sleep.. when I am already tired! (getting old sucks)

I'm having trouble sleeping too. The bananas and milk are no longer working for me. So far I've been trying some over-the-counter gummies that have melatonin in them. It says to eat two and I tried one a few nights and it made me a little woozy. Not much help sleeping so the other night I took two and it was like drinking about three or four shots quickly and I slept but I can't say it was quality. I got up to make a toilet run and I was still light headed but I did get back to sleep. So now I get to decide whether it's worth the wooziness to get some not so great sleep.
I've heard that there is something like melatonin that may work as well. Anyone ever tried serotonin? What was your experience?

You can also just tie it on with a piece of monofilament and leave a big tag end tucked into your shirt or vest. It works. It’s often very windy out here and it has saved my hat several times

Since I started my cancer treatments I've had a hard time sleeping; melatonin gummies seem to help, as does some exercise. Many times I wake up at like 2:00 AM, take two 5mg to 6mg gummies, and then do floor exercises for about 20 minute, BAM!, back to sleep.

In other news, many of the embassies in Washington DC are open to the public this and next weekend. Today the first embassy we came across after we exited the Metro was the one from China; the line to get in was nearly an hour long, but well worth the wait.

I began using melatonin a few years ago, not super effective for me (we are all different). Doctor prescribed sleeping pills (Ambien) worked okay for a little while... but then I got a new doctor who took me off Ambien... said it was BAD, very BAD! Put me on Trazodone and that has worked pretty good. Began as one pill, but eventually I needed two. Doc said up to three is not harmful, doesn't stay in your system. I have been sleeping good on the two, so I tried to go back to one (last night).

It's that time of the year, just got done checking and airing up the zero turn and garden tractor tires.
They are calling for severe weather in the Lehigh Valley later today, severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, a chance of hail and a possible tornado, time to put the truck in the garage!
The Blue Mountain, which is right on our doorstep, is the Northern part of the valley and usually provides some protection for us. :fingerscrossed:

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I've been playing green noise on a tablet when I have problems sleeping. It's not 100%, but it does help...and I'm not taking a pill.
