At my son’s art exhibit there was a photographer/artist, who photographs irises. He had some awesome portraits and of a particularly uncommon “Abbeville Red“ which is native here in Louisiana along with several other varieties including LSU bleeding iris, etc. I hear these work well in ponds (hint, hint… @Gen1TacoLady ).

Today's randos started off with a buzzard


Followed by washed up corn stalks from flood waters


Which led to the Olmstead lock and dam on the Ohio River


Followed closely by a big anchor


Which took us to the piles of sawdust from the trees they've cut down (some of them hundreds of years old) to save the world by installing solar farms


I'll call this one 'People I could drink a beer with'


Then we traveled to the grave of the Birdman of Alcatraz in Metropolis, IL
(True story)

And we topped off the evening by chatting it up with this coon that was eating a piece of pizza on top of a dumpster

Oh, le pole - IPA = India Pale Ale.
A specialty brew that was made to survive the long trip from England to India and finish fermentation during the long sailing time, mellowing. Now, folks wanna drink it fresh kegged and cold. A completely different dynamic and flavor profile. But hey, you do you. I’ll take a Porter or Lager any day over and IPA. I don’t hate IPAs, I just don’t choose them very often. I’ll sample, but likely won’t buy with very limited exceptions.

Work, always seems to be work.


I am currently on Day 14 of the hostage crisis. 6 more days to go before I have some free time.

 

Morning Whatevers

 

I can relate… 12 years offshore. We worked duration - as long as the job lasted. Some of the guys would start falling apart at 21 days. My worst was two weeks of 18 hour shifts (splitting the missing man schedule).

 

All good, fortunately I get hurry up and wait time.

 

Sadly, I mostly saw hurry up… with safety meetings for good measure. Couldn’t beat those sunrises and sunsets tho…

I tried a water iris years ago in the original pond at its earlier stages. I don't think I got it to bloom, but I knew less of what I was doing then. But temperatures may have something to do with that here as well.

I don't remember if I have one this year or not, but I'll look. I have a regular iris behind the pond. It's ready to be split in 4 now I think. Yellow and purple one.
