My old 3.0’s were always reliable.
6 inch Pro Comp, Alcan leafs, CBI front with Warn VR 8000, hollowed out cat with O2 simulators, K&N Cold Air, reflashed ECU, 4.56’s, Raceline chrome in Cooper 295/70r17’s
I know, old thread. This is for anyone else like me that found this one in a google search. I was able to remove my 6 inch Pro Comp components, and reinstall the factory spindles, diff mounts, and sway bar links in about 10 hours. I bought the spindles from a salvage yard for $200 a piece and they threw in a nicely cut section of the cross member from a wrecked 2012 for free. I had a fab guy do a beautiful job cutting the new cross member piece to size and welding it in place in a few hours. Some of that time was spent cutting and cappin the cab mounts so I could keep the 295/70/r17’s. I love the truck and love the ride! So much more potential. No more issues with alignment, creaking and squeaking, or in my case getting the worthless drop brackets and compression struts hung up on obstacles while wheeling. While I had the truck up on stands I threw on Billstein 5100’s in front and Dakar 3 inch pack on rear. Get to work making your taco fully functional again!

    Scrap,

I currently have a 4 inch rough country lift that I'm looking to take off my Tacoma. I wanted to know a little bit more about what you did.
I kept all the parts when I put the lift on because I knew one day I would grow out of it. The shop that put lift on is actually happy to take it all off if I bring parts and charge for labor.

Do you regret taking it off? Really considering doing it here soon.

6" lift with 35x12.5 M/Ts. Lift is coming off soon though.
Sorry in advance for the old thread bump. I'm looking at removing a 6" Rough Country lift from my '13. Curious how you guys transported your truck to get the cross member welded back in? I can do all the work to remove the lift and restore to stock except this part. Trouble is I'm not sure how to get my Taco over to my fab guy since the diff mounts to the part that is getting welded back in.

I would suggest uninstalling it at the fab shop or a flat bed tow truck.

I found a shop that would re-weld my crossmember & paid him to uninstall the lift and put on the new set up.

Then I went to discount tire and a tire shop to align my truck again. Hopefully you can do the same in your case.

How is your crossmember weld holding up? I'm a bit nervous about getting it done. So many sites out there recommending against frame and sub-frame welding.

If it’s done right it’ll hold up fine. The second key thing to do is paint the inside and outside of the welded area. Or rust will form fairly quick and become a problem later

Yeah, its the if it's done right part that worries me. I found a seemingly reputable welder who works out of his garage who will do it, but I would much prefer a fab shop. Problem is every one I call is not interested.

I’ve seen better work come from people in their garage than some shops.

seems to be holding up fine! I was lucky enough to keep my stock parts when I installed the lift originally.

No pre runner trim, no mud flaps,no step ups,I do have the Deck plate though. Kings @ 0 and 5100's in rear. stock leafs. Total chaos UCA.
Honestly screw procomp for making an application that needs to cut your Tacoma frame what a joke. Sorry just digging up old 6” forums and it’s upsetting me lol. Makes me want to just keep it but ugh. Dealership took out my blocks and cut my ubolts for tsb recall ( new leaf pac so it’s worth it) but I got serious bro lean and am up in the air about my options. Im thinking just get blocks again to get level and then save up for Alcan or emu and hopefully find some 6” lift coil over

ProComp is not the one who made a design that requires cutting... That's fully on the carmaker (Toyota in this case) for putting the crossmember where they did (any lift that has a dropped crossmember requires removing the OEM crossmember so that the 4WD differential housing has a place to go).
What Toyota could've done instead is have the crossmember be bolted in (like how the trans crossmember is, or crossmembers on other makes I've seen) which would've provided suspension lift companies an opportunity to create brackets that simply space the existing crossmember down (rather than having to cut it out and replace it). But Toyota didn't do that, so it is what it is.

So a dealer put your rear all back to stock again? (did they leave your extended length rear shocks on there or did they swap those too?)
What I would do (easiest) is pair a set of 2" blocks together with a set of 2" or 2.5" leaf springs to get the rear back up to where it was. This would be much better setup than running 4"+ tall blocks on the weak stock springs.
Since you have new springs, you also could do the 2" blocks plus add a leaf... However there does seem to be a fair number of mixed opinions on AALs in the stock leafs though (no experience myself... I went straight to Icon RXTs). I've also heard quite a few reports of the OME leafs sagging as well (again, no personal experience). My RXTs have been holding up well though.
Custom Alcan springs would be the cat's meow, but they are $$$.

Fox finally released their Performance-Elite 2.5 shocks in lengths suitable for 4-6" lifts. Highly-recommend if you're looking for top performance.

ahhh I see thank you for the knowledge!!
I love this place so much.

    just finished reading the rest.
Yes it’s back to stock I think they compressed my shocks all the way.
I found a set of the icons leaf rxt i just can’t tell which set up it is. I think I counted about eight or nine leaves on it but like you said it’s a new pack so that’s why I’m kinda in the air with what I should do. Just run this stock pack, it looks silly right now but I was thinking yeah just grabbing a 2 inch block it’s cheap, this is not really gonna see the dirt here in la(Don’t get me wrong. I’m still gonna try to get icon coil overs for this or Kings and some remotes in the back.). I have my other taco for off-roading.
I think getting this used icon pack won’t be bad, The guy said he got it for free in a trade and he’s just trying to get rid of it. He doesn’t really know the set up tho. Im afraid of getting them and I’m gonna have Axel wrap cause right now with the TSB leaf pack. It honestly isn’t wrapping anymore but I know it’s inevitable.
