I've got a few "depressions" around the grounds where the buried stumps are starting to cave in.
It's taken some time, (35 years) but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. They take constant top dressing, and three foot deep holes "just open up". No! just NO!

I heard you guys like chainsaws??
Here's a jig I made yesterday to gang cut my rafters for my first timber frame. Worked awesome. Wish all my trial runs went like that.

I used the big side winder Skil saw , a hand saw, and a belt sander.

Some I even embellished the tails with a router.

Build to impress the generations that follow!

Well if we were talking face to face where you can see my body language and inflection and just know I'm being a good natured smart-ass my reply would be something like "you know that backhoe has something on it called a front loader, and it's great for moving dirt". But since we're not face to face and it's very apparent that there's a lot of people here just waiting to be offended so they can reply back, I won't do that.

Very nice, would like to see some of the work. Getting the timber framing bug. I've been drawing some profiles out for rafter tails like you're talking about.
Do you cut a curve in your braces ?

use the piranha bar to take out small saplings & such... Pops them right out. Usually this is when I'm clearing brush/briars & making paths. Following the natural flow of ground.

use the stump grinder for really huge stuff to get it right below ground level & let the rest do as it will.
Not planning on replanting anything in these spots.

use the excavator for all the mid size/ large stuff where she wants it filled right back in or is planning on planting a "new" tree.

There is a call for every tool in the box for one reason or the other.

I'm hoping my stump grinder will be here in the next 2 weeks or so. I ordered the SpeeCo quick Hitch (same as @Tiedie has) yesterday. I'm considering the QH a prerequisite to the grinder, since it will add to the required length of the PTO shaft. I'd hate to cut the shaft to fit without a QH, and then have it be too short down the road if I put a QH in the future.

    Damn!

My real name should be Stu PaDasso.

Setting the valve lash on a 721 Kawasaki. Book says .003-.006 for both intake and and exhaust.

Get the valves clearances set. I give the unit several tests crank rotations by hand to make sure things are kosher. This unit had pushed up a valve guide, I repositioned it. Things look good.

Randomly I hear some spring type noises from both heads. The pushrods were falling out of the rocker arm divots. Its like the lash is way too sloppy.

    It was...

My tiny brain was thinking .038 was close to .004. I must have set those valves at .038 a half dozen times before my brain caught up.

Morning y'all. Friday started with a search for the komatsu forklift I use. When I got home I did the parts of the workshop yard the wife doesn't do. And some of the house backyard and along the road.
Saturday started with my little FS90 Stihl Weed Wacker at the house.
Then into the shop to finish rebuilding the brakes on the motorcycle ✓ done and blead brakes I feel confident I can stop. Still need to test drive but rain on Saturday squashed that or anything else.
Sunday which I don't like doing anything got 1 of these done.

    [/QUOTE]
My trellis arch doesn't look nearly as nice. But I had everything on hand. I'll have to do some stuff for the tomatoes and peppers but I have a little time.
Also mowed the front yard at the house.
Man I had a busy weekend.
