When you drained the tranny fluid did you not notice the color of the fluid?
Motor oil drain it is always black. I assume tranny fluid would be much different.

Just curious how much fluid is left in the trans if you drain from the plug only

The approximate capacity is 10.5 qts. a drain and fill takes about 3.1 qts. so he still had 7.4 qts.

    Pull fill plug.

    Pull drain plug.

    Pull fill check tube.

    Drain.

    Reinstall tube.

Fill until it's running out the check tube. Once it slows to a trickle, close drain plug.

    Close fill plug.

    Easy breezy.

    Lol. Warranty will be fine.

Not always. Penzoil can had a reddish sheen if it's not gunked up. So can Mobile One. (Not sure about others lol)

But it's definitely not the same as tranny red lol

Absolutely, the first oil change I did on my 2gr-fks the Mobil 1 had the reddish look and I had to take a second look and make sure I didn’t drain the auto trans lol. :D

I was driving my C6 Corvette down the highway years back and did not see a small object in the road. Unknown to me at the time, but whatever it was kicked up and punched a hole in the bottom of the transmission pan. I got off the exit and pulled into the store I was going to and peaked underneath. To my horror, I saw transmission fluid gushing out the hole that got punched in the pan.

I had no idea how much I had lost before I parked it and shut it off, but obviously I was concerned. I had it towed to my Chevy dealer and they put a new pan on it, filled it up with new fluid and said it was just fine! I drove that thing hard for years after that incident with no issues. The moral of this story is that you are fine OP. And don't listen to these naysayers telling you that you have taken life off of your transmission. How the hell would they know that?

Transmission fluid is intentionally dyed red to avoid any confusions.
Maybe red motoroil guy had antifreeze in his? :notsure:

No antifreeze oil turns a milky color when antifreeze is mixed with it. I had never used Mobil 1 and for some reason it does have a reddish look if changed at 5K intervals.

It is, but nope I've never had coolant in my oil

Been doing 5k on my 2017 for 120k miles. All changes were mobile except for one super tech change (never again)

All of them have had a slight red sheen to the dark oil. :notsure:

There was a putt putt racer with a loud fart pipe tailgating me once on a mountain road section with no turnouts, and he couldn’t see the boulder in time that was on the road that I had to straddle with my Taco. He sort of rolled over it but the rock was a can opener and took out both of the oil pans, his steering linkages and opened part of his floor. I hope it cured his tailgating problem!

Most of the fluid is held in the converter, right? I’d say the trans is probably fine. Overfilling oil is usually pretty bad but if it’s still running then whatever lol
