You need to drill holes in the stump first.

If it is on state forest land contact the state archeologist and/or local forestry.

Forestry department will either have prior knowledge of it or will look through historical aerials and/or talk with the state archeologist. Depends on who you talk to really. When I was in forestry I loved those type of calls cause it was something random and different to work.

Archeologist would probably love a call like that. Ones I worked with were always bored and loved looking into that stuff.

Here’s a link to publicly available state aerial photos if you want to do some searching yourself.

I started out with cutting some grooves into the stump with, you guessed it, the sawzall. It’s probably not going to do much, so next round I’ll try some bore holes.

I was a bit bummed that I cut open the lid. I coukd have used it to cover up the fire. Oh well, turns out it makes a nice second layer to make the ring a bit taller.

Welp...TIFU. While installing my DIY seat delete, I broke the board. I was re-situating myself to tighten down the bolts and used it as leverage, lost my balance, and crack. To add misery, I was removing my broken board and caught a nice one info sliver in my cuticle. I felt alive! Looked through tears at the gloves sitting right in front of me. Stopped for the day. Will get new board tomorrow and work throughout the week.

that top lid is doing some interesting fluid dynamics. I’ve watching this like a lava lamp for an hour now.

I’m thinking vortex generators need to be a part of this somehow.

Except coal seams lol. But yeah, I get your drift. Or draft, as it may be.

The top ring is working really well in the wind. Keeps the heat concentrated without crap blowing everywhere. Under the ring you get a nice gasification, then the wind pulls it out and it all combusts right at the top with a nice blowtorch effect.

    I love fire…have I mentioned that?
