I've been thinking about building a 2JZ Taco for about a year, and I'm sure it's doable, but does anyone know for sure? Or has anyone swapped the 4-cylinder out for the 2JZ? If so, what parts are necessary? If I can't do it on my truck, I would maybe buy an older one and swap that.

Well there's plenty of room in the engine bay..as the 4.7L 2UZFE v8 has been swapped in several times before..just how much work are you willing to put in to do so is the question..I'm sure if someone wanted to swap in the Toyota Century 5.0L v12 engine they could with enough work put in..you can't be the 1st person to want to swap in a 2JZ in a Tacoma..I'd search around to find a few examples and go from there..

Here's one from about 5 years ago, start at the 5:40 mark. Doesn't look like they had to mod the firewall. Some of the things they talk about like e-throttle and such aren't much of a concern anymore as there are plenty of aftermarket options now.
