We have new neighbors. Met them yesterday-city folk from Minneapolis. Fascinated with the deer. Totally distracted while talking with us because there were deer in our yard. I am so immune to it now. Can't wait until their dog gets sprayed by a skunk or the garbage gets raided by the bear OR the trash pandas... Bobcats are rare but a cool visitor. Turkeys, weasels. Have not seen a Badger, but I don't think any actually live in the Badger State. Can't wait to experience a hodag!

Wisconsin is called the "Badger State" not because of the actual animal, but due to the lead miners who settled there in the 1820s and 1830s. These miners, lacking proper shelter, lived in tunnels dug into hillsides, similar to badgers, leading to the nickname "badgers". The nickname became synonymous with the state and has been used ever since.

Thank you. Did not know that. Also makes easier to handle not seeing badgers anywhere

I've seen as many badgers, as I have hodags.
On occasion, I find big burrows in hillsides. Found some big enough for a coyote or fox a couple of times.

Sometimes you need to find a big stick, stir up the entrance and run like hell.....you know, to see if anyone is home.

It was something that I learned a long time ago, and I actually remembered it.

Messaged a shop in my town today that specifically mentions servicing transmissions. I asked them how much a fluid flush would cost and they replied back saying we cannot flush your transmission. Huh lol.

Happy mistakes sometimes lead to discovery. I’m pretty sure I that the cut-off lid will give me the potential to create a fire-tornado campfire. Just need stare at the fire a bit longer to figure it out.

eta: And my old man has a retired weber he hasn’t thrown away, so I got me a whole lid!
