    Evening,

Been considering getting a jump starter.. would the best option for a 3rd Gen. 2.7. Be a Noco 40 plus? Can get one for about $100.00 currently. Description seems simple, easy to use has long hold charge time or GB50. For $50 more.

Thank you both. Would there be any benefit in the 50 considering it can deliver 10 more jump starts between charges.. meaning a longer battery charge life? Anyone gone this route?

I live used my 40 on my 4.7L plenty of juice. It should handle the 2.7 easily.

Thank you. GB40 it is. Would it be recommended to get one of those explosive proof battery boxes such as lithium ion.. or just take out of truck during our hot Florida summers and remember to put back in

I've had a GBX45 for a few years, usually keep it in the Tacoma, which has never needed it, I did have to jump the Corolla a few times when the battery died, started it like 5 times and still had a lot of charge left, that's 1250 AMPs I believe, so I just got a GB40 1000 AMP to keep in the Corolla, and put the GBX45 back in the Tacoma. The GB40 was only $100 on Amazon.

Yeah, it's a bigger 4 cylinder than the 1.8 in the Corolla, but the 45 had so much excess capacity I'm sure the 40 will start the 2.7 a few times if needed.

Note, I have a reminder in my phone calendar to top the things off once a month, could go longer as there is always plenty of charge remaining, but the things are no use if they are not charged.

My 45 has sat in my truck all year long for about 3 years, hot and cold, no issues. The truck spends a lot of days in what has to be the hottest damn parking lot in NJ.

Very good point. I did read the GB 70 and above have the outlet for plugging in external accessories such as a tire inflator. But already have outlet to car charger and don’t need that much jump start

Those things explode? I keep mine in the truck year round, but this is the first I'm hearing that these things are a Pyro risk?

Lithium ion batteries in general can due to overheating which can cause thermal runaway with the cells inside the battery. It’s rare but can happen.

I have used one that cost significantly less. It worked fine.
