Sigh.. bit the bullet and bought a wheelchair for my wife... for those long treks through stores, parking lots, etc. It came in a big box already assembled (whew). I haven't un-boxed it yet... I'll know when she's ready. Losing one's mobility sucks big time.

A little at a time gets the job completed. Are you going to salvage the wood for future projects?

I struggle to get into the 6 to 8K step range every day. I still use a cane and I might always need one due to some back issues. I am walking more than I have in quite a few years.

Welcome to the thread. Newbies fill up the cooler to your right with your favorite beverage. Stay off the fancy dan rocker on the porch, the owner get upset if anyone sits in his rocker.

Good morning. Enjoying Casevill MI and relaxing for a few days. Yesterday we took walks on the breaker walls in Caseville and Port Austin. The sunset on Monday was spectacular.

I've needed a cane twice over the last few years; in 2019 I got knocked over by a horse on to jagged ice and broke my left fibula, it wasn't the horses fault, he tripped on some of that jagged ice and as he was catching his footing he knocked me over. While I was still on my old-school wooden crutches (from when I broke my right leg back in 2003) I found a flea market in Concord, NH and bought an old-school wooden cane and used it during my recovery.

Then as mentioned above, in late 2022 I had arthroscopic knee surgery on my right knee; I was once again non-weight bearing, this time for six weeks, and used the crutches until it was time to dig the cane out of the closet. I ended up using the cane for well over a year; at first all of the time, then only part-time, then it came along for the ride whenever I knew I was going to be on my feet a lot, and now..., back in the closet. :)

It sure is cheaper than a wife or hiring a maid!
Going to get very interesting down the road with the combination of robotics and cognitive computers. hope it's not the equivalent of leaving the nuclear genie out of the bottle!
