Random observation since installing the exhaust dump that I haven't seen mentioned yet.

With a tonneau cover and RTT I had a fair amount of drone that would increase in volume around 2K rpm at all speeds. Wasn't sure if it was the rear diff, exhaust, or just a normal thing. After installation the drone is significantly reduced and nearly non-existent. I'm thinking the combo of an aluminum tonneau cover + empty composite bed reverberated the frequency of the last factory resonator.

Highly recommend this mod if you're encountering similar drone issues! Great quality product.

I have the same at around 2K. I was thinking that it was the turbo kicking in right at 2k. I just installed the exhaust dump so havent had a chance to tell if it's better or worse

Can confirm the awful drone noise is way better after exhaust dump. I dont have to avoid cruising at the 2k RPM anymore haha

That's interesting because I noticed that I got more drone with the exhaust dump installed. With the exhaust dump I noticed a very deep/low frequency drone or reverberation as I would slow down to stop or if I was parked with my truck idling. It turns out that I'm particularly sensitive to that frequency or something because it felt like pressure in my head and was almost heachache inducing. Not great for a 60 mile commute in traffic. I ended up removing the exhaust dump and putting the factory exhaust back on with the tip cut off right after the resonator. This eliminated any drone and has been working well for me. I have an exhaust dump available if anyone in WA is looking for one.

For reference I have ANC turned off, fake engine noise turned off, OEM tri-fold tonneau cover, and OEM bed mat... in case that makes a difference. Also, the ATH Fab exhaust dump is a well made product, unfortunately it just didn't work for me.

I noticed more drone at idling as well, but the 2K RPM is so much better I'm good with it. I wonder if the 2k RPM drone is much more noticeable in some cars than others, I feel like the whole cabin vibrates with a low bass

Kinda funny we have mixed results. Glad I'm not the only one thinking it helped with the drone. Surprised it got worse for bigd9247 though.

To add context for mine: fake engine noise is off, left ANC turned on, bak x4s tonneau, no bed mat

I wonder if turning ANC back on would have helped at all?

Curious to know how you turned off the fake engine noise?

Yeah I honestly don't notice a drone at 2k rpm. Maybe the bed mat helps dampen it... who knows. For sure my issue was drone at idle so maybe 1k rpm.

I haven't tried with ANC on. I turned that off day one but it might have helped. Generally I don't like ANC on anything, including headphones because it also causes pressure in my head. Airplanes being the only exception where it's worth the pressure to block out all the other noise.

I used the Carista adapter and app

Like above, I used the Carista adapter. A few threads around here discussing what it's able to do.

Cool - thanks for the replies. I have used Forscan with my Ranger - I guess it’s similar.

Agree, way too expensive, and it's not that visible
