    I realize that website max weights and such are a conservative estimate. But need a no BS assessment on if 2 people, a dog and a quad cab Tacoma with cap are going to have issues.

    we will be leaving almost all of our camping gear in camp.

    My wife and I made the climb with same load minus a dog, you'll be fine. It's a fun drive but it's also like being stuck in a traffic jam with a nice view. You can only go as fast as the slowest car in front of you. Pack your patience and keep it in low gear on the way down.
