I have always wanted a Tacoma. It took me a long time to be able to afford one. Even though it was a little older than what I wanted. I was excited to purchased this 2010 with 132,000 miles on it in the fall of 2024. Since I purchased it the alternator died and almost caught on fire. The intermediate steering shaft had to be replaced. The passenger side exhaust manifold started to leak and I had that replaced. Now I hear the drivers side leaking. Anyone else have any of these issues?

I mean alternator yea stuff happens, they can fail early or go 200k+.

The other stuff sounds like it's from rust which is pretty common if your in an area where they salt/chemically treat the roads and you don't take steps to mitigate it or at least slow it down like washing the salt off regularly and undercoating it at least once a year with a good product like Krown, Fluid Film, or WoolWax.

2009 same truck and essentially same miles… Nope but it’s always darkest before dawn. Get it fixed and keep it moving.

Thanks guys! I have fluid filmed the frame. Just frustrated, get the truck I always wanted and get hit hard right off the starting line. Love the truck though. Light years better than the 2011 Ford ranger I had. Compared to the Ranger you would think the ranger was 10 years older than the Tacoma.

Just replaced both exhaust manifolds on my 2010 - same truck as yours. I am the original owner. 15 years for an exhaust part isn't terrible, but those manifolds are expensive.

My passenger side manifold leaks and I'm putting off replacing it.

With a used car I always assume there will be repairs needed. Might just be brakes and tires but might be items like you mentioned. Its just the risk you take buying a used car. But, the cost of those repairs is probably no more than the tax and interest you'd pay if you'd bought a new car at the dealer. If you plan on keeping it a long while then your cost of repairs like that really won't amount to much over the life of your time with the vehicle even if the short term is painful.

I got the doug thorley long tubes and o2 sensor simulators to replace my failing cats, 6 or so years after buying my 05. way cheaper at the time and even passed CA emissions tests.

Truck is aging and these things are not uncommon. The driveline on these trucks are solid and the electronics hold up good. All the other stuff is small fries for a very reliable vehicle

+1. Buy the ticket, take the ride…

My wife has a luxury Lexus that’s 15 years newer than mine and my mental math for upgrades is “this is cheaper than a Raptor” :amen:
