Best thing if you want your vehicle to last in the rust belt is getting it undercoated with a good product like fluid film or something similar and washing the salt off anytime you can, makes it kinda grimy to work on but I would think that's better than everything dissolving away.

Dang nice, mine needed a little "persuasion" with a mallet when I neglected engaging it for a time. Make sure you check the vent hoses on both 4wd actuators and the locker while your under there and if you ever have any 4wd issues we have a thread for that too.

    Looks good, love that color.

i got the fluid film coating done right away. My dad owns THREE 4 runners haha, and does it with all his, i followed suit.

i did the ARB breather relocation for the rear diff, i was actually unaware those had breathers as well? ill definitely check those just to see what they look like.

the OG rear diff breather also came off with no Pen fluid and just the 10mm wrench.

thanks, its slowly growing on me. I'm a Subaru guy at heart, only ever owned silver or grey cars before this truck fell into my lap.

Yea all the actuators have breather hoses, majority of 4wd issues on these are a result of them cracking and/or coming off and water/dirt getting in the actuators. There's pictures of them in the thread i posted.

I wanted blue but finding a manual 4wd was hard enough, finding one in blue wasn't gona happen.

mines a 6 speed manual as well, i hear the clutches last a long time and obviously he never took it off road so hope that's good for awhile.

it had the OG clutch/brake fluid i didn't know it could get the color black that came out when i bled the system. (i should stop saying og everything I've touched was factory installed lol)

My master cylinder is starting to go on mine (97k) or at least I'm thinking that's what it is, it's like it doesn't quite return all the way until it warms up. Still works ok but I'm not sure how much longer it will so I'm just gona go ahead and fix it.
Got all the parts ordered for it, gotta get all the updated parts per TSB 0112-19 Rev1 because the original is discontinued. $467 for that stuff and the slave cylinder.

i did the Master on my second Subaru, not sure if its the same for Tacoma's but if you don't bench bleed it you're in for a multiple hour bleed. don't ask me how i know.

aside from sticking to the floor when i was bleeding the clutch, which i heard can be normal for these trucks, mines felt pretty okay.

It's possible to bench bleed these because they are under the dash fed by a hose from the reservoir and you have to remove the whole pedal bracket assembly to change it, not fun.

Mine has always been right at the top, last Monday when I got it it to go to work it went down like 1/4 travel before it had anything but not leaks or change in fluid level. It's been better lately but it's still not right except when it good and hot.

I'm at 175,000 miles on the stock clutch and no signs of slippage. I suck the fluid out of the reservoir once a year, replace it and bleed it. I don't replace my brake fluid but bleed them a little every year as well. Take care of these trucks and they'll last a long time.

Yea they are usually pretty tight.
Typically you can knock them loose with a hammer and a wide blunt flat screwdriver.

Well she's back in and running like a champ. I'll double check fuel trims tomorrow but all seems good.

I had to bite the bullet for a pump wrench, 40 bucks at autozone. Other wise it really wasn't bad. Tank was super clean. Gonna look at the old pump tomorrow as well and see if the filter clogged or pump was just dying.

Side note, it was missing the pump cap!!! My guess is. It was forgot in the frame swap. Soooooo it's back on there with no cap. We'll see if this bites me in the ass someday.

Thanks again for all the help.

Not gona hurt anything without the cap, the cap is just an annoyance when you have to drop the tank.
