Auto parts, not auto imports. I don't have a subscription so I can't read the article. Reuters and Car & Driver both mention Toyota being subject to a 25% tariff.

Just note that those articles are from March 31st and 27th respectively, and the Bloomberg article references changes in late April.

This will be my last back and forth over this topic.
It is obvious that uncertainty will be the norm for a while.
    :boink:

On April 2, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his tariff policy for numerous countries. In the case of Mexico, exported products that comply with the USMCA regulations are exempt from tariffs, which are approximately half of Mexico’s exports to the United States.

Products exported from Mexico that do not qualify as originating under USMCA provisions will be subject to a 25% tariff. Previously, these products were subject to a 2.5% tariff rate.

This was posted on Apr 29, 2025.

Autos imported from Mexico may be excluded from the 25% tariff, but the USMCA isn't mentioned in this proclamation. This proclamation does state manufacturers that assemble their autos in the U.S. can apply for an adjustment.

The purpose of this is to get ALL manufacturing back in the U.S., so it makes no sense to exclude products that comply with the USMCA. Those of you that believe the opposite may be correct and I may be wrong, however, everything I've read and heard leads me to believe that any auto not produced in the U.S. is subject to the 25% tariff.

Well, to respond (late) to the initial query to my earlier statement, I was also clearly operating on outdated information where I recall the Japanese-made auto tariff having been lowered to 10%. I need to buy a neck brace for this, so that I can endure the whiplash, and hold my head up as the economy goes into the toilet.

And we still don't know what the direct impact the tariffs will have on the price. Toyota may absorb all or part of the extra cost.

This is why I was happy I didn't get any kind of price increase from ordering to 5 weeks later at delivery!

Lol he "downgraded" to your outdated gen 3. Keep telling yourself that after its passed by a gen 4 towing a trailer still getting better mileage with real technology sitting on his air-conditioned seats. I really hate owners disapproving newer generations. Think its got problems? Don't buy it or put an 8 year 100k warranty on it.

Just you wait. I just put on Dobinsons MRR, springs, new links, panhard bar, and bumpstops. I hated the stock suspension, it felt so unrefined and couldn’t tolerate the weight of the truck dynamically. Now driving this thing is through and through so much fun now that it’s lifted and corners well. The powertrain isn’t the greatest from a standstill but passing power once up to speed especially on highways is insane! Can’t believe I can pass others so easily with 33” tires, loads of weight, and it hardly feels like it’s struggling.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to make this new platform prove itself before lifting it this time. Don't want to mess with Warranty BS if I don't have to and the Falken WP's that came on it will do for a bit.
