Im sure they can get it out - question is will the replacement bolt go in snug - we shall see. I was tempted to pry it out myself but this is a toyota problem not a TR problem and I want them to honor the warranty

    Mention that...
I usually change my own oil after the free service contract is up, I need it fixed right & no hacking / cutting corners...
"Obviously someone didnt care enough & just rammed it home with air, cross threaded it, over tightened it, who knows what....."
    But unacceptable....
I try to come to the dealer to avoid butchery & here I am......
Twist the knife & express your frustration & the importance of resolving it without anymore hackery...

I almost drove it to the service dept but I’m going to wait 1700 miles for my next service / oil change. I want to minimize the number of times these clowns mess with my truck.

Ive said it many times, you do you, but I will never agree with that & think its a good idea...
It is what it is, get it handled.
    My 2 cents...

It is also a timing thing - it takes half a day of my time. Can do it all at once. And nothing will happen between now and then. The fact that I waited to now also helped me identify that it was the skid plate causing the sound, which they would have never discovered — would have been an exercise in futility and the bolt issue would have remained. I think my approach is sound. Safety issues are another matter.

Gave the truck a little workout today. No more noise after the re-torque on the front skid plate.

thanks for all the info guys, this is what make owning cars/trunks like this enjoyable and stress free, just want to add that there's always issues with new ownership wether first edition or 4th, I'm gonna do first oil change myself at 1000 miles this week even though I have couple of oil change, and inspect the shield and torque the bolt to spec, I haven't hear anything unusual yet but will check the LCA bolt torque as well.
