Great questions and responses, thanks. I’ll have to snoop this some more tomorrow. Not sure my warranty is still good. I bought the truck new Sept 2022.

Finally got around to follow the recommendation by TAXX and cut the cont. power wire to the OBDII plug and ran it through IG2 with a fuse tab. Works like a charm. Thanks for the advice TAXX!

I'm pretty sure our warranty's are the same, but here is from my 2023 Warranty and Maintenance Guide...

So you (should) have a 5 year/60K mile warranty on the transmission, all internals, torque converter and the TCM...

Now the basic bumper to bumper warranty is 3 year/36K miles, but does not cover normal wear and tear items...

Well, I turned off the BSM and I no longer get that short buzz sound when shifting from park to reverse. Can’t explain it but to me it’s good news cause I think that eliminates an issue with the tranny itself. Possibly a sensor is not working properly. Maybe I’ll get a diagnostic scan done. Thanks for everybody’s input, help, suggestions and good questions to me for consideration. Also, I would like to get my tranny fluid change done but I’m reluctant to do it myself. I do all my own regular maintenance but that task scares me. The dealers won’t do it and several tranny shops around me won’t do it. Maybe I’ll watch some more videos on it and try it myself.

Glad it is not the trany, as far as the servicing goes, you are probably gonna need to find an independent automotive shop to do the drain and fill, and it is not recommended until the 60K mile mark, if towing then earlier depending on how much weight, the length of time and what kind of strain (flat roads or mountains), it is all about how hot the fluid gets/got... If kept under control, normal is OK, if straining and big long hills, more often... The hotter the ATF gets, the shorter the ATF will last, and that is a huge killer of automatics....

Got my truck back from the peeling paint recall. Took about a month overall from scheduling an initial assessment, waiting for Toyota to approve and one week in the shop getting painted. I came me with peeling rear doors, but they ended up repainting front and rear doors and front fenders.

I got so excited when I got a text from the body shop with pictures (and they even put my front door decals for me) stating that it’s ready and they will be dropping it off back at the dealer. As much as I’ve enjoyed my rental RAV4, I missed my Taco.

Installed a block heater last weekend. Didn't have time to post earlier... Ran the cord through some protection tube to ensure it does not touch the block anywhere. I used extreme heat gasket maker to seal it off at the engine block. I had the power outlet installed already that I just needed to connect the plug. All a little late for this winter, but I guess the next one will come!

I like the lights. The normal lights seem brighter than stock but the bright lights seem a little dimmer.

Great advice, thanks. I’m glad it’s not the tranny too. Since I don’t pull anything with this truck, I got plenty of time and miles to find a reputable place to do the tranny service. Driving from Arkansas back to my home town of Roswell NM next week and I’m happy I got this suspected tranny issue more or less eliminated.

Yep, that’s the model I’m planning to get.

Regarding brightness, I recently installed the Hot Shot Offroad All Lights On kit, which activates all headlights (highs and lows) as well as the fog lights using your normal factory bright light switch. Really useful with my stock headlamp and Diode Dynamics fog lights. 100% recommend to anyone needing a few more lumens! (Even with both your light bars!)

Just 30 bucks plus shipping and handling.
