Good afternoon everybody. Routine blood draw at 0730 this morning for my annual in a couple of weeks. Came home and went for a walk. Did a few things here at the house then took the dog to the doggie park before the rain this afternoon. The rain came early and very unexpectedly, like the weather app said rain starting soon and the bottom fell out. Me and the pup got soaked before we got back to the truck.

Back home and dried off now. That’s enough productivity for today.

Rain has been coming down hard all day. I’m now sitting in the recliner sipping on some Knob Creek bourbon. Man that stuff is hot at 120 proof. Had to put some ice in it which I never do.

Afternoon :hattip:trip to the Opthamoligst this afternoon, Friday afternoon traffic during construction season was a pleasant experience. He wants me on special- “prescription “ eye drops. Ether now or in 6 months, I opted for the 6 months, when I see him again. Glaucoma and loss of lower peripheral vision, eye pressure almost normal. Need to schedule an eye appointment for new glasses, I’m going for the Hollywood look. Two doc appointments this week, it’s Miller time. Word for the wise, don’t grow old :rofl::rofl:

Jim, I’m on Timolol and Latanaprost for open angle glaucoma. I haven’t lost any peripheral vision. Take the drops, no side effects here

    Good evening everyone.
It's chilly outside again, I had to plug in the bedroom heater. I thought that this was over with.

I got a bit more progress on the mailbox project. I needed to make a "tie" for the tusked tenon, I didn't have any hard wood stock so I ran a piece of red oak firewood through the table saw until I had a chunk of flat stock to make the tie from.

I had never done this type of joinery before, so I had a few mistakes but overall it ended up being functional. I used some Urethane Gorilla glue and wood shims into the mortise then drew it together with the tie. It got surprisingly tight.

Here's tonight after a few more coats of "Gunstock" oil base stain. I wanted a color that reminded me of the national forest signs, this is sorta close. The old wood soaked up the stain like the desert sand soaking up water. The new lumber 4x4 brace took the stain completely different, it's much more red. I might skip the brace.

The bottom 30" has a fresh coat of WoodLife Copper coating.

I will hit everything tomorrow with some satin urethane.

Good morning everyone. It's time for a dump run yo get rid of yard debris. I wanted to be in line for the 7am opening time, I had a few rounds of snooze bar tag until the alarm turned off, so now I'm behind schedule.

Good morning. House cleaning day and I’ve been assigned the vacuum. It’s a 35’ hose that goes to the central vac outlet. Like wrestling an anaconda…

Looks good. As my father said (master cabinet maker); “You’re not building a church”
