In the middle of replacing fuel pump. I watched a video where a guy has a hose clamp on the filler neck so he could disconnect it there. Mine looks to be a solid piece (not the spill line, that has a clamp). I removed all the 10 mm bolts and was able to disconnect the neck from the tank while lowering the tank out. I'm not sure that's right though because it leaves a big hole for particles to fall into it. Should I try to get the tank back in with the filler next attached? Feels like that would make it difficult to get in place.

I know it's not quite the same as your project, but I've taken the bed off with the tank and filler tube in place. It took a bit of manipulating, but it wasn't all that tough. Essentially the same parts would be dancing with each other either way so I bet that you wouldn't have much issue installing the filler tube assembly first. Easier to line up the gasket and all of the screws that way.

Yeah if you can have a helper bend down and direct the fuel neck that will help a great bit getting the bed back down onto the frame.

Yeah, no helper available unfortunately. I tried to get it back in with the neck attached, that was frustrating, so just disconnected and got the tank most of the way there and then attached. Just have to get creative getting to a couple of the small bolts.

Glad you're making progress. I predict that the next time you have to do this (hopefully never!) you'll give some serious thought to pulling the bed.
