Doubt it. New water softener is still sitting on a trailer somewhere north of Pittsburgh so not installing that this weekend

 

I'm probably psyching myself up more than I should, but wanted to ask some opinions on this situation. I need to remove this 3/4 x 1/2 male adapter out of my tank tee. Problem I see is someone at one point hulk tightened this thing in there hard.



I have a couple different pipe wrenches, but anybody here come across something like this? I really prefer not to have to get a new tank and tee if at all possible. I'd also rather not adapt to the 1/2" copper back up to 3/4" to fit my new filter and water softener.

 

id say you probably wont know till you try. Ive encountered ones i thought would be miserable that were easy, and then ones that looked easy that were a pain lol. The nice thing is, the Tee's arent to expensive bare (without valves and gage) so if you can reuse those, its least not to bad overall.

It does look like they might have used dope (paste) instead of just tape which Ive also found to help in things not seizing up. (but also on mobile so might be mistaken)

 

Yea they used tape and dope. Maybe it won't be a fight.

If things go sideways, I'd probably replace the tank as well. It's 13 years old at this point.

 

Tanks are one thing i guess Ive always been lucky on. Both my old house and this one the tanks are 15+ years old with no issues somehow lol

 

My tank sounds like the old percolator coffee makers. Lol. Bet she's ready to give out.

 

So in the meantime I'm doing a little prep before the dumpster fire softener install. Want to get as much done ahead of time. To my surprise when I opened the box it came with a big ass filter assembly. Well I be, saves me from buying one. Had to mount the thing on a 2x6 anchored to the concrete block



None of this plumbing will be left and everything will be configured differently.

Also decided to re-work the drain line a little bit. When I first redid it the tubing I bought was thin and kinked easily. Bought some 1/2" ID 3/4" OD thicker tubing. Should have done it from the start!



It's kind of just loosely put in place for now and connected it to the old softener if for some reason the trap dried up.



Yes I know overhead isn't the greatest, but I literally have no option. No floor drain, no sump pit in the area. I know it isn't optimal.

 

Those aquasure carbon/sediment filters don't last very long, are a little expensive and their wall mounted tanks are proprietary to their filters only. I highly recommend getting a 10" pentair blue housing and some pentek DGD-5005 10x4.5 sediment pre filters from HD. I prefer to run them in series with the aquasure wall mounted filters.

I'll probably order a 2 pack shortly. I do not think there is a big issue with sediment from my well. I've been unfiltered since March and I don't really see anything in the toilet tanks. Time will tell. But for now it saves me money. Getting a ball valve right off the pressure tank will be the biggest help so I can easily re-do that stuff. Right now the only valve is off the softener

 

When I had mine installed they ran the drain up and across the ceiling joists and emptied into the vent for my sink. I like to replace that line and run it a little further over and into the drain for the washer that goes into a dry well somewhere in the back yard. Where did you buy the drain hose from?

I let it out in the sun for several hours and it was pretty easy to work with then.

 

Guys, any tile experts here? Grout experts? Shower experts? Here's the situation, recently re-grouted my shower floor perimeter, quite nicely I might add pushing it in quite well and thoroughly, and while doing so noticed what could be little holes distributed throughout the shower floor. Never really noticed these before or gave it any thought. But NOW, I'm thinking these holes are prime suspects for letting in that hydrostatic pressure that led to the deteriorization of the perimeter grout. So, while I'm at it, and to prolong the completion of this re-grout project, I'm considering fixing these little pin-holes as I'm pretty convinced they'll give me issues in the future. Question is, would a good sealant on these holes fix it up, or do I need to grind down around each hole and lay more grout down throughout the entire shower floor to seal it completely and effectively?

I'm all questions today. Here's another, can anyone offer some advice what materials I can use?

Question is simple, there is a huge gap between the two roofs that allows critters to get up there, and easily push up the soffit to gain entrance under the flat roof into living space. I want to block that access. What material, cut into blocks and inserted between ribs on aluminum porch roof, under 15" overhang of the flat asphalt roof, which will stand up to chewing, and rot? House is built 1979, I've owned house ~5 years. I'm tired of raking out blown in leaves under flat asphalt roof, and I find the critters unwelcome as well. TIA. Should be 2 pics attached.

 

I think I know the answer. Grind and regrout entire floor of shower. I hate it when a simple project becomes a bigger project. Grrr..

 

I feel the same way but the nest thermostat is a pretty nice to have actually.

 

I think I messed up a window with the pressure washer the other day.



Can this be repaired or is replacing the window the only option?

 

if the seal is compromised, replacement is the only option
