What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I had the Grabber ATXs a couple years ago and loved them. Then I went to the Yokohama g003s. I always feel like maybe I should have tried the X3s instead. I’m still considering them but I do a lot of highway miles.

 

It heats the engine block and by that the oil and the water in the block. There is a receptacle hole in the block already, the heater just gets pushed in it and tapped with a mallet a few times. No fluids or oil contact during install.

 

I appreciate that. I really wanted a MGM or Silver Sky Tacoma but I got a good deal on this one. Fingers crossed my paint doesn’t start peeling

 

And white is easier to keep clean!

It was covered in the dedicated Toyo at3 thread.

1. My second set rides out of round like a bias ply until warmed up. They're been road force balanced twice, so I'm calling tire defect. I'm not the only one with this issue in that thread.

2. The tread life is 30k at best and they really lose traction and performance at 20k. Mine were trash after 25k miles, but I drive like I'm formula 1 and AZ is very hot in the summer.

3. They howl and make a lot of road noise which sucks for long distance drives. Did I mention they're noisy? Yeah they're loud.

4. Tire pressure swings wildly with temps and constantly needs adjusting (mine balloon from 31-37 in AZ). (SL tires do from what I've been told.)

5. They ride a little spongy and the 265/70/16 SL versions are slightly under correct payload capacity for these trucks.

Aside from the out of round until warmed up issue they're great for the first 15k. No issues hauling arse 85mph across the country for 4-8 hours at a time. I did a big cross country trip last summer with them. AZ to NC and back then all around the west and PNW. CA, OR, WA, ID, CO, UT, NV and back to AZ. I'm not sure why I came back to AZ.

Beauty weather, so I started on my insulation on the inside of my rear door skin's. At the same time, I swapped out the super tiny speakers.

 

What should be the normal tire pressure swing? I'm getting 4lb + swings on my factory original Goodyear's.

 

Installed the footwell lights in the rear. Used protective tube again to ensure the wires do not crack or get damaged when moving the seat. Now I have front and rear and very happy with the new lighting.

 

And, as time goes on, there is less to keep clean as the white paint detaches itself from the primer - which is an army green color.

 

Hmm, nice. I want to get this one done myself, because, stock, ALL those footwells are so dark.

That's normal. Remember that the reference pressure is for "cold" tires that have sat still for a while, ideally overnight. If you drive more than about a kilometre (half mile) before checking them, the air inside will already have warmed up a bit, so you risk under-inflated tires if you adjust to your desired pressure at that time.

 

I installed the eiback pro lift. About 2" lift.
It feels amazing. Its taller in the front, i think I will add a 1" block to the rear.

Any suggestions?



Also, is there a market for the take off parts? 30k miles on them.

 

I suggest, that looks good!! Also, pretty sure it will settle ~1/2" in about a month.

I sold my OEM suspension after my lift, so you could probably do same.

 

I installed the Roadmaster Active Suspension to give a bit of lift as well as improving spring load capacity in the rear.

Changed the engine air filter, installed Tomatoman seat covers and very impressed with my new Cooper AT tires
