Is this bar under my rear window stock? And if yes what are the two bolt holes for?
I followed the instructions for Homelink and the green light is blinking but neither of the gates I use are getting the signal. Can I reset Homelink?

Yes, that is stock. The factory tonneau cover utilizes those holes. It's for an alignment bracket.

which model homelink do you have? i ended up going down to a gentex v4 because the newer gentex v5 wouldn't program worth a damn on 2 separate but brand new operators.

    v4

    v5

i also needed the backup camera in the mirror because of a spontaneous ejection of the factory radio, but that was a personal problem i'm seeing a doctor for.

I have V5, just not with the compass. So I need to get a V4 mirror?

reset by pressing 2 outermost buttons on mirror until lights stop blinking
Also maybe try pressing the reset button on the actual opener unit. It's on the "backside"

I have spent hours programming homelink. It takes patience and several tries.

i'm not going to outright say it's the only option, but it was a viable option for me. i've had the v3 or v4 mirrors in all my vehicles for the past 10 years now, so i know they work, and more importantly, the button placement is muscle memory for me at this point.

but i also bought a 3rd gen specifically because it was the newest gen tacoma that i can still swap the radio out. so your priorities may not align with mine.

I usually improve my stereos also, but so far I'm happy with the JBL system. If the resets don't work I may buy a V4 mirror. Thanks again.

I had a Heck of a time getting my home link programmed with our pos genie garage door openers. Worse programming experience ever and you need to consult the garage door opener for their secret programming sequence as the home link instructions were not enough to cover the process.

for what it’s worth do not buy a genie… loud (belt drive), continuously drops WiFi and needs to be reprogrammed, and homelink is a pita.

At home I have an old chain driven door, at work it's a new sliding gate. I'll work on it this weekend.

What’s this mysterious “reset” Button on the op? Not once have I seen a reset button… got your learn, program, and up/down. The only actual “reset” is unplug and plug but not once has that ever truely fixed anything if I’m honest. You can hold the learn button down and erase all codes and start over or you press/release to add something.

I have v5 and relatively newer op and no issues programming. Homelink as a whole is finicky and process needs to be precise and followed exactly. It’s a 2 step process for most vehicles but basically 1. Have to have a remote and your homelink clones the remote (if done properly you’ll get the successful led flash sequence and can proceed) 2. Then you can program the home link to the opener.

just realized op is talking about a gate- I have no experience with these
genies are junk, I see more problems with these units over liftmaster. The instructions won’t be provided by the opener for homelink btw (maybe just to know which button is the learn) but the instructions you’ll follow will be from the product or vehicle itself as some are different

    Wow
The reset button referred to is on the actual opener that is attached to the door or gate by a drive such as chain or belt. It is on the back of the opener unit not on the vehicle mirror or dash. I've had a genie for 20 years with no problems. Many things don't work or fail due to operator error or knowledge.

    Wow is right

the “reset” button your referring to doesn’t exist nor the action of resetting doesn’t exist by pressing said button. the button your referring to from the picture (which is from a genie branded op) is a program/learn button and by pressing it all your doing is entering it into learning mode to program wireless devices. And by holding it down longer you can clear all codes.

user error and knowledge are definitely majority of my calls, i don’t know everything so ill eat crow if im missing something but been doing this everyday for over 10yrs and 9 times out of 10 i can diagnose and possibly fix just from a phone call.

your genie is still working because its 20 yrs old! Again 9 times out of 10 the current/newer genie products are junk, you’re lucky to get 3-5 yrs before problems arise, they are finicky and I see nothing but problems. I’d recommend when the time comes to replace don’t spend your hard earned money on the same brand (I know most people stick with what has treated them good in the past but I’m giving you my experience/recommendation)
