Hello, I am looking at this 2020 Tacoma 3.5 double cab manual that’s for sale, has 95k miles and the guy wants 28,500. I just sold my second gen and have wanted a 3RD gen for a while but I’m questioning my self buying it because it is a lot of money and I want to know if there are any known problems I should ask him or be looking for. I put in a link to the ad if you want to look at it. Thanks for any feedback I’m just being cautious cause this would be the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought and don’t want to get something that I could’ve avoided.

Should have never left that 2nd Gen. I'll be the first to say it.

The picture show it’s visually ok BUT who knows how it’s been maintained. I look and see a lot of dirt and mud in the cab pictures. That leads me to believe they drove it and decided time to get rid of it. Guess….not well maintained. Look around at other vehicles and if they are not clean they don’t maintain.

Yea, I get it, go for the V6 2nd Gen. 2nd Gen trucks are, in my opinion, a better truck overall. But to each their own.

yea I had that thought but he put a aftermarket front bumper on and put in a new CenterForce Dual Friction Clutch and Flywheel. He also said he is getting stationed in North Carolina and needs a full-size truck to tow which makes me think he has maintained it.

No money, all went to truck...
I can't comment on the price if it's good or not. I bought my 2022 manual TRD OR 4x4 for 42K. I came from a 2nd gen manual V6 and never looked back. Most people that complain about the 3rd gen just don't understand it's a different engine that needs to rev to get going. I love ripping through gears hitting 5K rpm.

The Toyota market up here is nuts. They go fast and for a lot. Ask if he is the original owner and for maintenance records. Pay someone to go over the engine if you aren’t comfortable doing it.
100k is a lot in 5 years, but at least you know it’s almost all hwy

He is the Original Owner, and yea I want to get it checked over but he's in North Pole and I'm in anchorage so I don't know if I could, But I am going to ask for any maintenance records and yea I hate buying vehicles up here, almost anything has such a crazy markup

NO way would I pay 28,500 for that truck. The interior is trashed and it’s wrecked on the fender and door. Heck couldn’t he at least clean the thing before trying to sell it. Walk and keep looking….

I shipped mine up from Seattle was $3ish grand. Probably get cheaper on Samson or AML. I used Tote. Clean Tacomas down there.

If you get serious on a vehicle and even if its not local you can always (if seller agrees to) find a mechanic local to the Sellar and setup an appt for the seller to bring the vehicle to the shop you selected. Ask the shop to give you a pre purchase inspection/report and then you can proceed with the purchase or not. FYI - on this rig i would be concerned on how much towing and what the sellar was actually towing (Weight wise) to require a controller and new clutch.
