I should do that before I goto work...which means, I need to leave 5 minutes earlier.

Granted, the oil needs to drain even from the dip stick tube.

I believe there's residual oil hiding in there especially if the tube is angled towards the oil pan...which I believe it is.

Are we supposed to check the oil?

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Absolutely best way for me. Just sticking it in and out was absolutely frustrating and surprisingly difficult to get a good read. I just wipe it down. Re Insert and give it a few for oil to settle within the tube. Noticed better results when using the dimples in one orientation. Can't remember for the life of me, but think it is actually dimple side down.

Just once when you change the oil.

If there are no leaks, you're GTG. lol

The correct wait time is ‘e’ seconds or 2.72 seconds. (Euler’s number). As you can see from the OP‘s results, this would have resulted in a correct oil level reading. And as everyone knows, Euler is Swiss for “oiler”. And the natural log of ‘e’ is one. [ ln(e)=1 ] So, obviously, 2.72 seconds is the correct wait time for 1 full measure of oil.

No worries, Buck. Since ‘e’ is natural constant, you’ve probably been waiting the correct amount of time without even thinking about it!

The more times you pull the dipstick out then back in then out then back in you are just coat1ng the inside of the dipstick tube with more oil to come off on the dipstick when you pull it out each time.IMO

Nothing major or fancy. Just stuff to make it work better for me. Running boards, seat covers, BakFlip
The OP makes me wonder what else I've been doing so horribly wrong in over fifty years of driving. Maybe I've just been lucky?

50 years ago we could see the yellow colored oil on the dip stick.
Now the oil is clear and hard to define exactly where it is on the dip stick, IMO
