What is everyone doing for power steering pumps. I see trail gear offers a kit for SAS. My only concern is the gpm being too high. If anyone could comment on that I'm willing to buy the kit for science.

Long travel with 37s. I plan on doing a rack saver soon as well.

No, don’t run a high flow pump with the rack and pinion. Plus, TG pump are garbage, lol. Squeal like a pig!

You don’t have much option unless you SA

Why do you say no high flow pump with a rack and pinion? I see people modifying factory pumps why not get an aftermarket that does the same thing.

Will it work, possibly. Will it cause issues, possibly. Factory pump, IIRC, is rated around 800psi and for those who hone/drilled the restrictor out will probably get 1000psi if that. While aftermarket high flow rate is +1400psi, might be too much for the stock system. Guys I know with SA and stock pump w/ steer box have no issue with 37s while crawling. They will upgrade the pump with ram assist.

But heck, if you want to try, go for it. I just don’t think it’s worth forking $1k or so and modifying the components and locations.

The manual calls for 1280psi per spec. The guy who made the post detailing how to drill out the restrictior measured the ported pump and spiked at 2000psi. The only info I can't find anywhere is a gpm rating or measurement.

Don’t sound right at 1280psi. IIRC, reading an article years back, the 5vz PS pump is around 900. That’s when high flow pump was considered at 1200, 1400, and 1600 with 1400 being the norm. Why would people upgrade to a high flow at 1400psi when factory is 1280psi, no benefit. Yes, gpm makes a difference but the pressure doesn’t sound correct.
