I'm looking to upgrade the head unit in my 2016 TRD Sport and trying to decide between the Alpine iLX-507 and the Sony XAV-9000ES. What I care about most is retaining as much OEM functionality as possible (steering wheel controls, backup cam, etc.) and something that is DIY friendly.

Has anyone installed either of these in their Tacoma? What functions did you retain? Any issues with the install? How do you like it?

    Thanks in advance

They are both maestro compatible so as long as you get the maestro rr, both will retain the same functions.

I'd probably take the Sony between those two choices

I've had the Sony for a bit over a year now and have been very happy with it.

Mine is Velcro'ed to the top of the head unit along withe XM receiver in the dash. There is a lot of space in there.

    Nice. Thanks

Did the Sony come with everything you needed to install it or did you purchase a mounting kit?
