I know you want to play with a Haltech... and more power at a mile high is probably tempting....

For the right price, I'd sell the turbo along with the kit I suppose... if that helps anyone make up their mind haha

Having a setup that doesn't leak would sure be nice, I do love that color too.

Speaking of heads I have a spare set (that's got some small cracks) and I've been trying to decide what to do since my current heads have probably never even been adjusted and I've wondered about that shop you've mentioned a few times.
Being able to drop something in that's ready to go for the turbo would be a dream. LCE Wants an arm and a leg or Yota1 seems a little more reasonable but I've never messed with heads.
I mostly assumed the spare heads would just be used as core charge so I can keep the truck operational until I get something else ready to go in.

Id also like to start putting that free 5vz I got back together but I'm not sure how beefy I should go with it especially since this will be my first motor rebuild.

Jon has been an immense help really already, he provided the start to this whole path we've started going down by selling me this kit originally.

Probably seen in other threads, but work has begun on the new manifolds. Truck should be in the shop next week for me to yank the engine out. Debating whether or not I want to touch the bottom end still... on one hand, I abuse the crap out of the thing, on the other hand it doesn't even have 200k mi yet... Toyota problems

Because nothing more is really needed unless you've seriously built your 5VZ (talking serious flow optimization like a different intake mani and porting on the intake side and oversized valves and porting on the exhaust side) these short primaries and logs are still larger dia than necessary really for most. Packaging and installation is a concern for folks. Ever heard someone install the original TRD headers, I learned new curses watching that. We want strength (CX manifolds stress fracture often to the point of the T3 flange cracking off and the collector vbands detaching) and ease of installation. That way even a turbocharged Tacoma can be worked on like a normal one without the turbo being in the way. If these were all individual primaries to a larger angled collector there'd be no room for a downpipe and the heat would become a problem of its own. These will be a stout alternative to the CX kit that a wheeler can buy and abuse without wondering if they just reduced the reliability of their truck.

We have plans for a more overkill version for say 2WD guys shooting for very large HP numbers but there will have to be sacrifices in packaging and heat for those that the average person looking to boost might not want to bother with. Plus that kit without a fully built engine would be a waste.

oh, you are looking to sell them, this isn't just a 1-off plan for yourself, I missed that in the many threads of conversation lol.

also, I thought you were making a different intake manifold?

Yeah, the prototypes will be going on my truck after we've tweaked what may need tweaking. But then I'm just going to run them, my wheeling truck is a wheeling truck first and foremost. I'm not looking to do anything that reduces it's ease of service and reliability like I would be for our race truck. Equal length or shorty crossunders would be neat but they add another layer of shit in the way that I don't want to deal with on a mountain top in Montana or a desert in Utah if I were to have to fix something else nearby.

No lol, I already have a good, albeit overkill, turbo manifold if that was the case.

Not for my wheeling truck, that's for the T-100 race truck. That is pretty strictly a one-off I doubt there's any significant market for that and it doesn't fit under a Tacoma hood anyway.

That could be fun, but it sounds like yours is for handling, ours is for the 1/4mi.

Next season we are hoping to crack off a 10, overall goal is mid nines for bracket racing. Maybe see if it has enough in it for an 8. We have another larger engine (1FZ-FE) for down the line wherever the 5VZ decides the hard limit is for potential.
