Brake Pads and Rotors

    I need to get new brake pads and rotors for my ‘99 Tacoma. I’ve read good things about Akebono for the pads. Does anyone know what model number to get?

    For the rotors I’ve read that you can’t go wrong with OEM if you can find a good price. Does anyone have other recommendations?

    I've used Akebono brake parts on my truck for the last 27 years without problems or worries. And they are less expensive than Genuine Toyota Parts.

    I would not replace the rotors unless they are somehow boogered or you can feel some pulsing when applying the brakes.

    Rockauto should have the right part # for your truck as long as you're running factory brakes, even if you don't order from them.

    A quick look for my '04 V6 4x4 says
    $63 ACT436 Proact Ultra Premium Ceramic Disc Brake Pad kit, GREY
    ACT436. But I would double-check before buying.

    If anything's going on with your rotors & they need replacing, I hear good things about Bosch QuietCast rotors. I'm planning on putting a set at the rear of my Mazda.
